    Smile Wood machinery help

    Hi all,
CAn any of you help with places to buy wood machinery, mainly a big circular saw for cutting logs into planks and a planer/thicknesser.
The latter i can buy in UK but shipping here is crazy.
I know they are available here but not know where to look or who to talk too.
I am interested in new or second hand.

    I am in CM

    cheers Rob

Tried to import a portable sawmill for planking from logs a few years ago.

( Was building longtails from logs after the Tsunami)

Gave up after all the hassle

There are regulations to prevent this due to the "illegal logging" ( which of course does not happen here) and I would give this side to an authorised contractor- assuming that your logs are legal of course

Planers and thicknessers are available locally and not overly expensive

Im in Phuket and they are readily available over the counter here - made in Taiwan or China but perfectly ok

Bangkok Tools in Phuket have them in stock and as they are called Bangkok Tools I presume they have branches elswhere - hope this is a start for you ! Cheers !

There's a machinery dealer at the back of Talat Mueang Mai; has everything you need. Dunno know the name of the road but if you head east from the intersection at the northeast corner of the moat to the next traffic light and turn left it will be about 300 - 500 meters down on your right.

I have just had about thirty teak logs sawn into planks, it cost around B10,000

it took five guys two days, so was over-priced but they had the saw!!

so Rob, let me know if you get a saw, I would love to have you come over with it next time I get some logs in!!
