Need suggestions for replacing a 9 by 18 foot window

Hi guys, briefly logging in from my work computer to ask if any of you have any ideas for the following:

    Right. Here's the deal:
In the bar I run now, I've got this horrendous ugly sh1tty eyesore of a window-wall that is 9 foot by 18 foot, approx.

I've got a chappy sitting on me right who's in charge of the building and he agrees we need to change this ugly behemoth that is even uglier than most of you put together.

    Unbelievable as that may be.

So, what do you DIY hacks, construction pros and armchair philosophers suggest?

    Regards,
    Kayo.

Hmm..... I've not done windows yet but it sounds like you need to break it up a little. Smaller windows, a couple of mirrors, glass bricks. Fill out the rest with a few bricks. If it looks that bad, try to make a feature out of it. As SO says, a picture would help a lot!

Yep, we need more info, Kaybear. Does the window look out onto a dumpsite or what? Mebbe looking for a stained glass effect? Hanging plants? Nice shutters? Gve us a pic first, please.

Paint it Black . With lots of little star shapes left unpainted . Will look ok in day and very sexy at night all those stars twinkling from the lights inside .

One huge slab of glass, so you get a nice view out onto the High Street.

    Hi.
    Thanks for the replies.
Loombucket's suggestion is probably approximately the right kind of direction.

I WILL endeavour to get a pic or two of the accused window, and the rest of the room (to get a feel).

With regards to the location, it looks out on nothing. It is currently haevily frosted, and years ago the monkeys running the building allowed a building extension directly behind the window.

    So probably somehting back-lit.

I'll try to get those pics when I go back to work tonight. ( i haven't got a camera, but imagine most of my punters will do on their phones or something)

    Thanks again.

PS: Sorry I haven't been around. Still having probs logging in from my own laptop.

How about paint over it and project stuff onto it?

Not much wrong with that. The dirty handprint - on the wall by the jukebox - could do with a quick wipe though

Paint it & hang a giant projector screen for footie & that sort of thing over it.

Even if you haven't got the footie on, it looks proffesional & will cost you next to nothing.

^ That is a good idea. You could project anything on to it, even reflected lights. It might look a bit bland when it was not in use. I think it comes down to the practicalities and how much cold hard cash that one wants to part with.

It will look bland, but it gives the impression you are in business.

Might you want to consider leaving the top portion of the window open to provide light during the day and the allow visability for the surrounding night light in the evening to come in? Other offer options could be considerd for the bottom half.
