Well, I thought about having it in a shed outside, but it would muck up the purity of the design.

Seriously, the ideal would be to have it on an outside wall, but there isn't enough outside wall for it to go on, so it has to go there. Ventilation isn't as big a problem as I first thought. My place that I'm living in now, has as much ventilation as the place in the plan, and it works fine. There's a big fuck-off glass door not too far away that might help to ventilate it a bit if need be.

The counter tops will be rounded, not squared, but I really didn't think it was important to show that at this stage. That will improve the aesthetics somewhat.

I have been thinking about this whole idea of building a home for about B250,000.

I think it can be done! If I was single with the right connections, it might be possible...

Some one that could sorta say that if I built my house that it couldn't be taken away.

I would at least start with a 30-year lease.

Let's say your about 40. Add another 30 years and you are 70. Piss poor time to be try to renewing the lease, per say...

^ Sorry HB, I'm failing to understand what land issues have got to do with building for under 250k.

You could have a small feature wall of slatted timber or bamboo at between the kitchen and front door to screen the view of the kitchen and create a bit more form to the entrance. You could have a narrow hall table like shelf, built in on the entrance side for some decorative items and keys.

Wouldn't the entrance be better on the other side, going into the living room, rather than the kitchen?

No, it wouldn't because that side of the house is private.

The kitchen works where it is. You should see the headache I've got regarding the AC unit.

Of course not, but I don't intend to answer the door to anybody either (especially Welshies). Maybe have frosted glass in the panel next to the front door...?

^Well, kitchens are not the most attractive places to see as you open your front door. Especially if you are, or have just been cooking.

Why cant you have the kitchen with the entrance from the dining area?

Then the interior wall would make the entrance separate.

You're right, we're just people. It's nice to walk in and see something that defines the tastes of the master of the home, in this case, Marmite. Mebbe a big abstract painting of a dog? And a huge bouquet of heliconia or torch ginger?
