Does anyone want to see another construction picture journal?

There's already a lot of those topics where a particular house construction is followed day to day; Close to my house they're building what I assume will be one of those typical suburbia free standing 2 storey houses on a perfectly square 100 sq. wa plot.

Any takers, or would you say 'nyeh, I know what those look like' ?

Why not? As long as the builders are idiots, it always makes for a fun read

We all like a good read and a good laugh at some of the Thai construction methods, so write and be damned!
It's the finished article that counts, and (the majority) of times the laugh comes back on us. Thai builders, in general, despite the seeming lack of organisation and reference to plans, seem to get the job done quite well. Of course, we must always allow for the communication problems that arise during the work in progress.
We had a new bungalow built recently, work commenced in September and the job was completed in March, despite one or two changes and additions made to the original plans. The builder that we used was an absolute gem, nothing was too much trouble, and throughout the operation there were only seven days when the workers were not on site. Like most Falangs, had to look in amazement at the way the structure came together, but the end result certainly pleased us.

The more the better. We can all use new ideas and profit from the experiences of others.

Well, not a whole lot has been going on the last few days since the excavator left the scene. It's been raining a bit, but you'd think a start could have been made with putting up the steel rebar and doing the moulds to poor concrete in. (Heck, a bit of rain doesn't matter for pooring concrete right?)

    1 Wah = 2 meters = 6.5 ft
    1 Talung Wah = 4 sqm = 42.7 sq ft
    1 Talung Rai = 400 Wah
    2.5 Rai = 1 acre

^ I think you will have to revise your figures.

1 acre = 4840 sq yards or 4046.86 sq metres or 0.4047 hectares
    1 hectare = 10000 sq metres or 2.471 acres

Still not a whole lot happening, though a lot of steel rebar arrived. They've been cutting it a bit and shaping posts by the sound of it, but I didn't actually go over and look, much less take pictures.

When building our new abode, the Missus was on site virtually every day, for most of the working hours, as she quite rightly said, "you can't trust anyone!"
I was visiting the site on a daily basis, but, being unable to converse in Thai, was a much use as the proverbial 'spare prick at a wedding'!

IMO, Not only photos/pictures, but, specifications if you can get them such as number of pieces of rebar and size used, etc. For those planing to build this information would be very helpfull.

No close ups yet, just a quick shot of where they are now. If I get home in time then I will take some detail-shots
