In Britain, it is prolly the only country to do it this way.
Most appliances has their own on-off switch, ovens usually has it integrated in the timer, if you need to disable the whole circuit then you do it in your fuse box/house distribution panel. You don't switch off appliances from a wall plate.
Low-power ovens has a plug (convenient when you want to replace it) or is wired directly into a box of the type in the photo above.
If it is a high-power oven then it has its own wiring between distribution panel and the wall box.

This is the type of switch that I often see in Thailand used for individual circuits - commonly air conditioning units. Perhaps one would be suitable for an oven.

Thinking about it! appliances like ovens come with molded plugs so it is obviously the accepted way of doing it, though I do think a dedicated switch as above is better.

Better for what?
You have the same kind of auto breaker in your distribution panel and it does protect both the wiring to the appliance and the appliance itself.
Only usage I can see for a wall mounted switch near the appliance is for the case when the appliance does not have an on-off switch.

Better, so you don't have to walk ALL the way to the breaker box if you're going to work on the oven, but also if the oven catches fire you can quickly kill power to it.

Hi Iom... I have bought the cooker switch and connection box from UK now....i had emergency leave and took the opportunity to quickly visit Homebase for the required items

I am bringing the switch and connection crom UK. we have told the electrician to get the line ready and add the UK components later this year to complete the circuit

Here in the states appliances that are free standing are installed with a plug, if mounted in or on something securely then it is hard wired. If you wanted to install a switch in addition to the breaker the switch would need to be able to handle the amperage. All appliances I have seen here have on/off switches installed in them. The breaker would be used to cut power to the unit for service or emergency, but every country may be different and if there isn't a code to follow I guess you can do how you like.
Curious, what brand of induction stove did you get?

Hi there Dennis.. I have not yet got the kitchen components as we just blew 154K on bathroom / toilet 'equipment!

I have experience of DeDetrich which I found excellent. that was in the UK though.

Currently I'm looking at Electrolux as they have a good range in all sizes, not too expensive and the matching ovens look pretty good too. eg, I like the flush fit controls when not in use for the oven, and the touch controls (no sticking up knobs) for the hobs. I will keep you posted on the actual items selected once we get to that.

I am back in Dubai now so should be able to resume / catch up on the photos soon.

In fact David, we were just pushing the heads of some trespassers under the concrete slab since they would not stop sticking their nose in we decided to let them have a real close up view.

Looks crap but it is typical of Qcon block mortaring. One of the first Qcon builds we had here in the Teakdoor.

Hi Norton, thanks for the comment - i took a look at that other thread too.

Yeah.. taking shape, as they say. I have been a bit pre-occupied here but ..here comes some more pictures!

You can see where they are prepping up the beams above for the same treatment.

He asked us where the fans and lights were going so I sent him another sketch to confirm.

There are also external electrical sockets to consider, especially as the far wall is currently missing as it is par of zone 3 which we are not building right now
