I don't think there is a Thai translation of "reasonable". Better to estimate the mm/h/Sq.m of the worst month and divide it by the numbers of day in that month x 24.

Anywhere in thailand has "TORRRENTIAL" rain, we had nearly one beer can full in just one day, your not in the Lake District drizzle now. I've found that for a typical 20 Chang beer cans long cement roof tile one needs to raise the top end by about 1 Chang beer can diameter.

I used to use mm and metre to measure, but now I'm more relaxed about accuracy, its all multiples of empty beer cans -length, diameter and volume.

Now you lost 2 columns, why not move the other 2 into a more central position?

Also, you realise that the BiL and builder will change the floorplan before & during the built? Don't put too much thought into it.

At least 600mm over 4M, and she'll be right.

You only need four uprights with my idea, and I've done it.
It was only a car port but 9m X 9m roof was awesome.

Does this mean over an 8 metre roof I raise one end 1200mm ?

Do you have a picture of the carport ?

    ..... and I don't know what 9M C section steel is .

I am going to stand there and COMMAND the troops .

    No changes .

But you're right ...... if a 4m span is no difficulty then I must merge the other 2 pillars into one.

Now it's Sunday cheesey muffin time ( with a fried egg in honour of a sacred day . )

Wow wasp I see you are serious about this build now.

You don't want to assist him off his roof while in a drunken stupor. Or send him down the river.

You don't want to give him "the old bamboo." Toot sweets, cobras or the Monty Phython.

I did fail to mention the the course name was Practical Implementation of Statistical Process Control.

So I guess getting him falling down drunk and sending him off for more Kow Lao on your used but fully insured motor bike would be out of the question.

You really are a nice man even if a bit of a schemer. Good luck with the build then, fish.

    I resent that !!!

I'm not a nice man at all !!!

Folks have produced a few ideas for seeing off the indolent brother though few folks are as imaginative as you are in that area .
I don't mind if any of these exits befall him . Not at all . But I cannot be the instrument of delivering his demise .

Some years ago I knew a guy ( an Australian guy ) who managed to get himself jailed for his own stupid actions .
So I got to visit and see what happens in a Thai jail --- and it was awful . AWFUL .

So if I have one principle in Thailand . And I do . It's never to get put in jail.

Hence I cannot inflict any of these amusing and creative dooms upon the indolent lump.
Simply having him and his squalor moving beyond my eyesight must suffice.

Have you got no work at the moment splitlid ?

Shouldn't you be producing drawings of some fabulously expensive low-rise film star dwelling ?
Probably all stark , strict right angular , sharp edges , white , much glass .... and an infinity pool with a minimalist water feature ?

Actually these little granny units that you sent are nice .
I don't fancy digging up my granny to put her in one but they are cute.
Of course you do have a problem the moment you bring any stuff inside . Such as a pair of tweezers . Then you can't move around .
But as a unit for storing my immobile granny they look good.
The other granny is in a jar so she could go on a shelf in the kitchen.

    .
    .

Changes have been made and 3 of the pillars have been moved or lost.
But new pillars have been put in wherever a corner or a wall meets a wall .

So there are 19 pillars in this plan .

Is this too many ? Do I need to have a pillar at every junction point ?
    Is it a bit over-planned ?
That's the only question I have about this as I'm perfectly content with the simplicity of the design .

Yep the one in the middle no need for it.

How to accurately arrive at the correct steel size and grade.

Ask builder what size and grade of steel does he require. Being a fukwit he will over estimate by at least 30 %. Take away the 30 % and you then have the correct size.

Where you want to lose a post ask him to weld 2 pieces of the correct size steel together.

Take into account the heaviest load a simple roof will encounter will be Somchai crawling on it in order to fix the roof sheet.

Heavily insure the indolant brother in case of collapse of the roof.

This is a tried and tested method as demonstrated on the house we built for the wife's parents.

There was one between 1 and 2. Put that back in but only up to ground beam level.

    You're right .

There was one between 1 and 2 . Don't know why that went .

    So just remove number 10 . That's all ?

    And have a 6 metre span ?

Long Long time ago we put these asbestos-coloured roof things onto an extension . Kind of compressed fibrous cementy-looking things . Actually quite heavy .

These will be coming off soon so he's getting those .
