    Best paint for outer walls?

Already painted but after 4 years need re painting so what undercoat and topcoat paint is best for weather protection? In the past I think Dulux weather shield when it was oil based but they don't seem to sell that here. Shops give conflicting advice so is there really much difference at all between stuff like Jotun, Dulux, 4 Seasons and the others?

We just had the Handbags rental house painted.

Can't recall which paint Somchai used but it was not cheap.

My painters use Dulux for exterior jobs and Resenes for interior. I think Dulux has better weather resistant qualities, but Resenes covers better for inside.

The TOA 4 Seasons paint is very good and cheaper then the other high quality brands.

Plus the plastic buckets are fantastic!

If here consider the white paint that has reflective properties. It will keep the house cooler.

I think there is a guy on here who used it on a Gazebo and you can walk on it in bare feet even after the surface has been in the sun for hours.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

That's an oil/ solvent based paint mate.

What you need is emulsion or water based paint.

TOA seems to be a good choice. We used TOA 7-in-1 and the house looks still good after 5 years.

Our outdoor shower with extensive sun exposure was painted bright yellow with TOA Shield 1. Here I have now some bleaching and the wall needs a new painting.

Re Eiffel Tower, it's Jotun. Just in the final stage of painting my place, inside and out. 100% Jotun.

For external walls, Jotashield is excellent and with a good range of colours.

I used deluxe weather shield about 15 years ago on the house, its still on, little sign of bleaching, almost no dirt streaking and showing no signs of needing replacement.

Saying that if you buy a top notch paint from a company that does plenty of real product development you are likely to get similar results. At the time the selling point to me was the self cleaning aspects of the paint. if you have walls that are full of hair line cracks there are other paints optimised elasticity.

However one should remember that modern paints are highly technical products, which essentially chemical bond themselves to what their painted on, hence different paints for surprisingly similar applications. And this is the rub, surface preparation is critical. paint a dirty surface and the paint will bind to the dirt and fall off.

So if you want a long lasting paint job... its simple all you need to do is choose almost any top notch paint from a decent brand and buy it yourself... then get your local painter to do a decent job of cleaning up the walls before they are painted... nothing to it

Personally, tried to get them to clean the walls, which they were too precious to do properly, so i got them to put paint the whole house with a solvent based concrete seal, to bind the dirt to the wall, then paint with an undercoat followed by the main coat. Bought the paint myself, watched them very carefully and paid them separately for each coat painted....

No matter what paint you use you need to give it a coat every few years so use the cheapest 500bt shit you can get your hands on

really albert, and you think this because of all the posters who have happily had their paint jobs last a decade or more?

you should buy better paint and do a little bit more than just slap it on and hope for the best.

Make sure the painters don't water it down.
