    buying and selling a condo

    I am considering buying a condo in Bangkok. Does anyone know if there are any issuses that would happen when I come to sell it and getting my money out of Thailand? Does it make any difference if I get the purchase money from out of Thailand or from a Thai bank if they'd loan it to me?

    Where the money comes from rarely makes a difference to any person receiving the funds, including when buying a condo. If however all this is part of getting a retirement visa of some kind that requires an investment in Thailand then it would be very good if you could demonstrate that the money came from outside of Thailand.

    A Thai bank probably wouldn't loan you personally a couple million baht, however you could support/guarantee a loan to a Thai national, but then the condo will of course also be owned by that Thai national.

    I don't think there's any issues with brining money out of Thailand again upon selling the condo; otherwise how would Thai businesses pay for anything they obtain abroad.

    To own a condo in your name the money must come from overseas.
    You have to get TEFT which is a bit of paper from your bank that says the money for the purchase originated outside of Thailand. no TEFT no yellow condo book.
