    As an engineer I would not pile without a sub soil survey
    If it's bad sub strata piles would be applicable
    But dig a hole and see how the land lies

    Hopefully a sub soil survey for a 5 storey building will be a bit more than just digging a hole!

    (but this is Thailand ...)

    Apparently the bank is not interested in lending on the land. Too many problems.
    However, it was basically rocks, as is most of the coastline.
    Is that good news or bad news re foundation expenses?
    I'd hazard a guess that it's a plus, but could well be wrong.
