    Thetyim's Neighbour's House

This is the house that Thetyim's nearest white neighbour had built in 2 months.

    I really liked it.
it is basic but very nice.
bear in mind that it needs a lick of paint, but how much do you reckon this would cost?

    alright.
you lot are obviously more clued up than me.

it cost 275,000 baht including furniture.
I was seriously impressed that you could knock up a very nice place for the price of a kitchen in the UK.
maybe I have been living here too long.
    greens to all of you.
even butterfly was in the ball park.

    Right.

    Anyway, let's take it apart.

...Then again.. for 275K of course it is what it is, not much point complaining about an awkward layout, the blue roof or plastic kitchen cabinet doors.

So it's actually a pretty good job for 275 K.. Of course: Would you actually want to live there? Talk about going native..

^ Why on earth would anyone want ot 'invest' more than that for a house in Thailand? Seems perfectly fine for the price.

These falang garish monstrosities are an eyesore in rural settings - most often showing up the falang's lack of taste & breeding.

I think that paying a nominal amount for a small house should be great for both the falang & his partner. She gets a roof over her head - he gets a place to stay & limits his losses should the relationship go south.

    Good deal all round.

Nothing wrong with a modest little home if its comfortable and suits your purposes IMHO.

One thing I would add if it was me is a rather large covered patio out the back. Somewhere to sling a hammock up and entertain guests/Thai family when they come over.

There appears to be quite a bit of wood in the building so I suspect he may have demolished an older place on the block.

The living room is small yes, but the bedrooms are actually quite spacious.

How much space do you need?
I live basically in my computer room and my wife lives in the bedroom that we have the tv in.
the living room is pretty much used as a lobby.

Our large TV is in the living room, so the missus lounges there, and me in my workshop with the com stuck in a corner.

And I thought I was the only one who has been subjected to this fate!

Incidentally, have a wild guess which room was 'overlooked' during renovation and left as-is because the 'chang' had other commitments?
