My new house in the sticks??

I have had a gutsful of living on a village/housing estate with nasty neighbours on all sides and really want to get away somewhere more secluded.
Also, my wife loves gardening and ours is really tiny.

I have pretty much made my mind up to buy this place near SanKhampeng, about 16 km North of ChiangMai.
Don't know wether to keep the house or knock it down and build something Western.

The land is around 260 square wah, much much bigger than anything I have ever lived on before.
    developing it should be fun.

Looks interesting. That's the sort of living I did for 25 years on Saipan.

I'd live in the house a while, get to know the place and then decide.

    Good news.
    Good luck with it!

I wouldn't knock the house down straight away.
If nothing else, it will be useful to live in while you are building a 'farang' abode elsewhere on the land.

That's what we are thinking of doing.
probably treat it as a weekend get away until we decide what to do.

Nice find, CMn. Stay in the house for a while - you can make these Thai rural homes rather nice if you put your mind to it. If you decide to modify it, you can re-work it progressively, over time into something unique. Don't be in a rush to plonk a western monstrosity on the place. There are a few decent architectural books around which can give you some ideas.

    What is the asking price?

yes, not the rai + we thought it would be (some confusion in the translaton)..but about what i imagined a rai to look like.

I shall be quitting my TD career and living like a yokel and feeding pigs and stuff.

I timed it yesterday and it was only a 23 minute commute into work.

Looks great CMn, I agree with the others, don't knock the place down yet, live in it awhile.
Methinks we will see you more often contributing in the Gardening threads.

CDMA stands for Code division multiple access.
It uses the same wave band as your mobile phone and is beamed straight into your house from ( I presume) the nearest phone mast.

The max speed at the moment is 153kbps but when the new version becomes available it will get much faster.

full chanote so I'm told, also told there is no flooding.
Certainly doesn't look like an area that would flood.
