    Sage words.
Yeah indeed, Decide in haste and repent in your leisure .
Nah the original sum I quoted you was almost a million ,the other Million is just a figment of your very fertile imagination .

Some people have got a problem in thinking that everyone else are like them. The facts are that we are all different. Some like to live only by sea, some only in mountains. So why would someone not be quite happy living around Sisaket, especially if they have got a loving wife to look after them and maybe they are getting on in age, but happily comfortable in their own home.

Lots of guys build out in the sticks, after a few months they are climbing the walls and off to Pattaya, wife needs a place to go home to if things go bear shaped.
Well said James, we don't all think the same, and often our needs are different.

Yes fair enough and I agree 100 %.

I think building the house for the wife, making her feel secure and insuring her future security is a fine reason to build out in the boonies.

I may even do that for my Handbag.

    Cheers.

I can buy 1.5 M for a house build in Sisaket. 2.0 M in 2016 is way too much.

The work was done mostly by local people supervised by my BIL who has construction experience.
Final cost (not including perimeter wall) was approximately 1.5 M thb.
It's a bit difficult and lonely since I don't speak the language, but I have my televisions and computer, and the villagers have all seemed to have accepted me, and are quite friendly. Also only 2km to 7/11.
