    Wasp,
why don't you sail over to this spot at Phuket, Ao Po Grand Marina, everything is there ready for mooring - perhaps a bit cheaper rates

Might have been a blessing that this lovely thread became side-tracked, as the initial pose was clearly embarrassing...

Well thanks for the thought Klondy but even at Thai prices I don't think my 2 million Baht will go far in that location .

Swap the power boat for a ocean going sailing boat. The only restriction on where you go is the amount of food and water you can carry.

That and the wind of course.!

A couple of Thai "cabin boys/girls" and you can have a merry old time.
    OhOh ,

My boat ..... ain't gonna move anywhere . So it will be even cheaper than a sailing boat .

It's got two thunderous big Volvo engines . Costs about £5 a mile in fuel !

It's staying moored not far from a Tesco Express where I can buy chilled Bourgogne Aligote and microwave Spaghetti Carbonara .

Painting the roof tile white is not expensive and worth doing. Painting the house with a solar reflective paint is worth consideration. The AAC blocks or cladding might be worth consideration. You can get custom made to size double glazed windows in Buriram so it must be possible in other provinces in Thailand. Maybe double glazed windows for the bedroom and not all the rooms due to cost. Best regards in your effort to make the home more comfortable without installing a/c and paying much higher energy bills.

Sorry for my indiscrete question: Have you ever seen a Thai closing the windows once they were open? (and vice versa?)

Depending on the type of windows....
And all Thais don't have the same characteristics.

Hi Waspy, I'm back too after moving up north in Oz to Queensland and trying to become acclimatised to the humidity in Thailand when I come over to live. Anyhoo, this thread is so far off the original question, my answer is air cond, but some of the actual suggestions are very good. With the cost of electricity in LOS, or maybe a solar array, air con is still the most effective method of cooling.
