Anyone seen or know of a traditional wooden boat builder in Bangkok?

My son is visiting and he wants to visit a boat builder. Something to do with Uni studies.

There's a Thai boat museum in Ayuttaya that might do the trick.

Cheers I'll tell him. It is a start.

Last time he saw one of those wooden water conveyors/pumps and was interested in the tool marks on the wood!

So what he is looking for this time is way above my pay grade .

^Don't know that you'll find much in Bangkok - better luck along the coast, I would think. I remember visiting a place years ago in Phuket that made yachts. Anyplace with heavy fishing probably has local boat builders.

    Ratch,

You mean the Chinese multi paddler boats?

He asked for older yards who may have been around say in the 70's before the roads in Bangkok got too many! His words not mine.

Samut Songkran would be good for fishing boats but he did mention klongs, so he may mean smaller boats.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

Take him to see water taxis on Khlong Saen Saep. Could be what he's looking for.

I think he needs to define his objective a bit more thoroughly. We're just guessing what he's looking for.

True but a trip on water taxi on khlong or Chao Praya might be the best start. More boats than you can shake a stick at. He sees one he's interested in go take a look. Hard bit will be finding out where the boat was built.
