The shed in my head turned out a bit different in reality!

As we are moving up country in 25 days we needed somewhere to house my extra things that won't be going in the house...plus bags of fertiliser and other farm stuff.

The scary thing is how cost quickly escalated. I took up 150k baht but had to draw out another 50k baht from ATM, borrow 45k baht from MIL and we still aren't finished!

I'll put up some pix's if I can.

Must be one hell of a shed for B250,000...
Could build a reasonable bungalow for that.

I trust the extra things you're looking to store are easily conducive to local climes.

I think it's going to cost 350k baht.

    It's 6.5M wide x 12M long with 4M high door openings.

"I trust the extra things you're looking to store are easily conducive to local climes " Hard to say. The climate is not too tropical.

Where are you getting these prices from? Are your in-laws 'helping' you with your build?

Hi folks, it's only my shed for now, later it maybe a processing plant for something we are planning. The builder charged me 48k baht. The rest of the cost is material. CPAC charged me 1700 baht a cubic but I think the bastard driver dropped of one cubic (or more) for a mate cos the first truck load was short, the missus got on the phone to CPAC but nothing was done. The next day we got a independent operator with a small truck that gave use the 3 metres we ordered and charged less per cubic.

    Anyway more pix's.

I was surprised at the cost of everything. After getting a quote from TOA in Sak Lek we went up to Phitanulok and got prices at Thai Watsadu and Global House and both were dearer plus Thai Watsadu wanted 1900 baht extra for a big truck to deliver and Global house wanted 3400 baht for 2 smaller trucks. So TOA in Sak Lek got the order.

For what its worth remaininvisible when negotiating there is dual pricing eberywhere and a wealthy farlang is easy pickings.
Also during my build when we employed no family as its so embarrassing to sack them
We did sack only one pf probably 5o labourers and ttradesmen over 5 months,he was punctual friendly but a bricklayer in name only.

Despite a unique design in Hebel of 3 houses Ive designed and been onvolved hands on in construction the speed and quality was best and done on budget.

If you are not compteet to oversee the quality employ some on who is is my opinio for waht its worth.

Good luck,as for deliveries need a checklist and checker just sendthem back unpaid if wrong

Thanks for the advice David. The only family involved was the BIL who used his tractor to spread the crushed rock for the base in the shed. The across the soi neighbours son bought the 4 loads of crushed rock from the quarry which is only 45km away (90km round trip) and charged me 1000 a load for the truck...and the next day got a load of chook poo for the BIL who paid 1800 for a 160km round trip and 2 hours loading time. I reckon he ripped Anun and me off!

Hoops, FWIW, I paid 1900/cu.meter in the far north/ I should say my GC did. He was on lump sum, progress payments so in spite of what others here post even Thais pay the going rate.

Nice shed, thin floor concrete as well shallow footings. Hope they serve you well.

It's 4" thick concrete...which will be fine for normal shed use. If we task it as a processing shed I'll have the local builder cut out 4 sections and have high strength concrete down as far as needed to keep the machine stable.

That should do it. Did you put down a vapor barrier first? What about the shallow column piers?

    Don't be so intolerant, Fiddles...

Obvious Hoops is a newbie and perhaps doesn't know how to post images straight up yet - at least one can view the photos of reference.

If he wishes to figure the system out later, he probably will.

    Relax, FFS.
Wish I knew the secret way of doing that! Insert link is the only thing that shows up on the message command line.

The first stage is finished, so the next stage will continue when I return. Needs paint, gutters and roller doors and electrics to finish off.

    More pix's later!

All I can say is that is one fucking expensive shed!!! Especially for one which appears to be between Nakhon Nowhere and "where-the-fuck-are-we" Thailand!

There isn't a thai in this country who'd fork out that kinda dosh for what the pix show..

Then again, you ain't thai, so thus ends the discussion about the cost..

Believe me if ANYONE who is even remotely friends with your thai significant other did anything on this project it was for the "white buffalo price", or "special price for you"..

I've found the less thaiz know someone in construction projects; the more likely they are to be able to keep the standards (low as they are here) to something that're workable and keep the price in line with the bid..

    Still, good luck with it..

Well there is always some Thai willing to put some extra cream on top of the pudding for sure, but I checked the Toa price against Global House and Thai Watsuda and TOA was cheaper. We haven't spent all the 350k baht yet. The electrical installation has to be done, the roller doors, the gutters.
