    Perimeter wall

I have acquired two rai of land for which i will be building a house on. I will be doing this slowly over time due to that i have two properties in England and i'm still paying a mortgage on them. My question is does anyone know how much it would cost to build perimeter wall around my land. I would like to be seven foot high and have a large opening in the front to put a gate for when i have my driveway. My land is 2 rai. Any help would be appreciated, thankyou.

    2 rai, that's 3200 square meters.
Assuming a width of 4 meters , the total length of your wall will be 1604 meters.
We are leaving ones side open for your front gate..

2million baht seems a reasonable price for the wall.

If you're not in any hurry, I would put in a double row of posts with barbed wire. Plant loads of that bush with the pink flowers whose name I have forgotten and you'll have a much nicer perimeter than a mouldy wall.

    well, your maths is astounding

you got the 2 rai bit right, but after that I am not sure what happens

If you have 3200sq m, to calculate the perimeter you need to know the shape of the land. I doubt if it is only 4 metres wide. Even if it was, the wall would be 1608m, not much difference to what you say. Probably, like a lot of land, we could assume the land is about 40mx80m, longer than wide, so the wall would be around 240m
    I have reported your post

figure on anything between 400 to 1200 baht per meter and you have ur rough price.
Thats for beam and block construction. Of course you can build it yourself if you want it straight and cheap

I would like a concrete wall which is rendered and painted. I have been quoted around the two hundred thousand mark but i wasnt sure if that was a good price.

I doubt it also, but the OP obviously thinks that specifying the land area size is enough to tell what is a reasonable price for a wall.

No, only 4m. The OP wanted an opening for his driveway gate..

    oh right, perfect!

anyway, it is very unlikely his land is 4m wide

I suppose if you accept the proportions I put forward, a wall could be had for about 240m x B600= 144,000 plus painting

I am not sure if both sides would get rendered for that

Please excuse me as I am using my memory. For each section the labor cost upcountry about B550. You furnish the material. DD, please correct me.

Each section is about a meter squared. But if you are going to furnish the materials you better know what is going on. Turn right or left in a taxi does not count...

Around here it's 200bt labour per running meter, wall 1.5 m high, rendered both sides, including posts, base and top.
    Materials extra:
15 breeze blocks @ 6bt used per meter, + cement, sand, steel supports wqhich I can't remember now what that came to.

The reason i am having it so high is because some pesky little buggers are growing rice on my land. And secondly when i build my house next year i like to use the house as a retreat where i can get some quiet. Obviously it wont be that quiet because i will have the missus family round probably constantly but i have secured myself one large room where i am going to have a cinema screen and a door with an access code.

Yeah, about double, I would think.

The OP specified 7', which is 2.10 meters.

Isn't a 2m high wall tall enough? With the added three or so strands of barbed wire, that should be enough to give the kemoys second thoughts.

'Am thinking a 3m high wall would really cut down on air circulation?

If the land is currently being used for growing rice it may well be very wet for part of the year, so might require different foundations compared to one built on drier land.

Otherwise you may find that you have no wall but a 2 metre wide concrete road running around the perimeter.
    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

exactly that happened to some Swiss guy near me

he built a beautiful 2m plus wall all round his land; come the rains, splat, down came a large section

I am not sure why he built the wall in the first place, it cut off all the views of the surrounding fields. which are very nice

Probably comes down to how well the foundation is constructed. Here's a series of good articles on permiter wall construction in Thailand. My wall will be ajoining rice fields on two sides so will pay real close attention to how the foundation is set.

Hey, i just had a wall built around the perimeter of my place, about a rai, 38x40.

The wall on two sides is about 2 meters high. the other two sides are shoulder height. i did it by the block for height.

for each section of the high wall was 600baht for labor. the small sections 500. this is building the base and legs and top part.

the concrete is in the 100-130 baht range per bag. sand was cheap for me cause i live near a river as was stone.

make sure you,ve got a drainage system worked out. the gates for mine were 12k for a big one in front and a normal sized one going out the back.

    Looks good Aquaman.
Do those prices include the rendering off of both or one side?
