No idea but what I am going to do is to run some really wet vivid white grout across the join lines.

The film will not yellow as it is UV stabilized and I reckon if it is applied correctly will last a lot longer then your best paints.

For some reason I cannot post pictures anymore.

I download them correctly, they are in my gallery and when I try to post them nothing happens.

Must be because my log-in e-mail address has changed on my outlook express.

Maybe a mod can suggest a solution for me??????????????? Please................

Gloss white but I think you can buy it in any colour mate.

There is one wall where the rendering is shite and they have filled cracks with filler and when you paint over the top of it it looks even more shite.

When I covered the area with the film all the shite disappeared.

The trick I have found is to wet the walls first with a splash of water but with a drop of liquid soap in the solution.

This allows you to slide the film into position and to push out any air bubbles.

Air bubbles are not a problem anyway as you can take a small pin, pierce the bubble and push the air out.

All in all its a bit like wall-paper.

I just had a shower and was thinking about producing a prototype film with a slight bevel along the long edge or better still an over-lapping profile so as the join disappears.

Off for a few beers now and some brain-storming in the local bar.

I should have the patents written by lunchtime tomorrow.

Loy Toy Some of the best inventions are made quite by accident ,or in your case by putting a lather on your bollocks in the shower, either way like Fleming it could well be you have stumbled on to some thing that may well be of some usefulness ,of course not in the same mold (mould) as Fleming , but any way however successful your idea is I highly doubt you will receive a knighthood Alexander Fleming Discovers Penicillin

Back home builders put lintels above doors and windows , to support the blockwork above the door/window .
I have noticed in Thailand that they lay the blocks on top of the window/door frame with no lintel .
Removing the door/window frame leaves the wall above liable to collapse, due to there being nothing there to support the wall .
If I were you, I would check the wall above the door, to make sure that its sound
If it is loose, then the door slamming could bring it down
In Europe it's NEVER allowed to build without a lintel, windows or doors are NEVER allowed to be part of the structure, just as filling. It's even in the Eurocode.

What I think is happening here, is that you guys are forgetting that in the Thai building style the walls are exactly that, "filling". If the walls were load bearing they would not stand up over a door without some form of load transfer i.e. lintel. In the Thai style, the door frame supports the blocks above (maybe?). I often think it arises from them making the transition from building with timber to then using concrete and blocks, without fully understanding the load transfer mechanism. Having said that I quite often see them putting in a reinforced beam under and over windows.

As stated in my post #7 it took me at least 2 weeks of making many inquiry's as to just who I wanted to undertake the work , as you rightly say RS there are quite a few good builder/workmen in this area who come highly recommended by other farangs , these are the sort of people one should take onboard even if it means waiting a month or two ,as most good builders are always busy, which is a good sign in itself .

As this is my game (plastics) and if I was going to start manufacturing the product for sale I would change the adhesive and increase the thickness slightly.

Plus the secrete will be how you align the edges. I think I have a brilliant solution.

For the past three days went and did whatever i needed to do, or sat on com oblivous to everything going on around me, i specified what i wanted done and left wife to deal with.

All went well until about 2 hours ago, or as well as i expected.

Last job was changing the door, we bought new door and frame, i could see they were packing up, so went on recon.

New door was hung, but still had old frame on duh, calls wife why we have old frame and frame is lose, oh she says they say if they put new frame up' wall with fall downseems the new frame was slightly bigger

whys that i ask? wall not strong, seems ok to me, men know job and say it will fall,ok i say tell them to do the frame if it falls my problem, can see she's going to go off on one now, well i tell them its ok, well i say its not ok,so ask them to do the job i asked them to do or you can pay for the job, [at][at][at][at] [at][at][at][at] [at][at][at][at] [at][at][at][at] and a few more expletives for good measure.

Well makes sense now the new frame was slightly larger than the old frame, so they had to chip away cement and straighten up bit more work than they expected so took the easier option, and bull shitted the wife.

    Another day in paradise.

55 reminds me of a Fault Towers episode ..keep the door closed?.....dunno about older buildings but I think our house is held together with all the tied in re-bar'd pole to pole lintels and complete frames of reinforced concrete for windows too..remember thinking WTF...but when they had finished our pole house did stop swaying in the wind...lol

Yes. I know two contractors in your area who do very good, high standard work but as you say they are far to busy to waste time on small jobs.

LT's idea is so good I'm thinking he might be Thai - maybe Pat's half brother?

Lintel - mine put a layer of bricks on the door frame then added a concrete poured lintel across the door and a few bricks wider! I suppose it just spreads the weight ; light bricks, non weight bearing, so what could possibly go wrong?

Prolly did the same for windows. You may now remove your door and window frames with no risk of house collapse.
