    Depressing or what?

So as usual this old guy is sitting consuming copious beers..Looking out over a pretty nice excuse for a garden on our farm that 8 or so years ago was a wasteland of building detritus.
Was wondering what it will all be like after the wife and I having turned up our clogs for 20-100 years?
Probably just a blackened lump of concrete in the middle of a jungle?

A few years back went back to our old house neighborhood in Cairns. Best and most beautiful (and expensive!) house I have ever owned, almost on the beach, lots of nice expensive palms and tropical plants, pool surrounded by beaut flowers and palms, teak shutters etc…brought tears to my eyes to see the fucking state of it …dead palm fronds, dead and dying plants ,weeds waste high..geesh!

Also went back to see my old house in N.Vancouver…spent so much time and effort on that house refinished everything developing basement yada yada..Nice grey and white finish, pretty front door, new skylights, kitchen, bathrooms etc… a very pretty but old house…....Frickin new owners had painted the frickin lot BROWN!!

So do you ever wonder what will become of your masterpiece(s) or do you care?

You've seemed pretty miserable for a week now creppy .

    What do they say ?

    Don't go back.

    Don't look back .

When I read this email I can't help thinking what a very fortunate life you are having .
Spent partly in Northern Queensland . Partly in Vancouver . Partly Thailand .
It's not bad is it ?

These other people who have your homes probably don't look out at the World with your wide vision of travel , choices , opportunity .
Nor do most Thais particularly treasure the homes . People in England with no money ALSO let their homes go to pieces . Even Stately homes .

Here's a peculiarity crepsy .............. several weeks ago I was sitting at the computer when I got this very strong whoozy feeling . No alcohol involved . Just a faintness and a strange gozziness in my vision .
Very strong . Never had it before .

Honest to God thought I was dying .

    And it disturbed me .

ENJOY what you have creppy and don't be maundering about something you won't be able to change .
Even when she had nothing Missy woke up every day excited to have another day of interest and fun ahead !!!

Even if the day was to be spent in the ditches alongside the road looking for frogs to eat ...... because she had nothing.

In one of my relationships I spent 7 years renovating a smart looking house to make it even smarter.

Very nice gaff, big pool and all the fruit. Bought it cheap and we banged a lot of money into but mostly all of my labor as I'm a handy bastard.

What happened ? We split up just as I finished it and we had to sell the fucker.

Lucky I never got married innit.

Anyway big lesson learned there, don't get too emotionally involved with your house.

It's advisable to listen to these guys .

I went back to the street where I grew up .

Parked my car ( and it's nothing special .... Mondeo ) and immediately people said " Don't walk away from it . The gangs will make a circle around it and demand a £50 ' tax ' for you to get back in your own car . "

A mistake to go back somewhere that you used to like .

Growing up, our house had gardens, a cabana, large swimming pool, two driveways, watersystem, bar, cedar closet, and more. It was a nice place built by a wealthy designer. Long gone. I've got a place in my wife's name which is a hovel in comparison in the desert of Esarn. If you want a nice home, in my opinion, live in the cooler climates where there's natural water sources that don't dry up and there's no dust. Properties here go downhill faster due to the weather and the rest of it. And who wants to be out there in the sun and heat cleaning a yard or garden or working on a roof. In the cooler part of the hemisphere, sure there is the winter but when the good weather comes its nice for a long time. The only negative of the north is the effects of water on wood. I like the old wooden homes of the western world much more or even the brick or stone ones. The first cement homes I ever saw were here in Thailand.

All places I owned/lived in look better now or were pulled down.
Could have made good money hanging on to them, but when it was time to move on, I did.

50 quid to get in your car? - If you take that you're as bad as the little shit heads for not teaching them the right way.

If you want to be there next time Albert I'll hold your coat while you deal with them .

You're my guest . But these kids have got no life left in their eyes . They're drugged stupid .
They don't worry at all about pulling a knife and ' shanking ' you .

    I didn't give them the opportunity .

    I left .

Always listen to people who really know .... and I listened .

I just google-earthed my childhood home, it looks nice for a 90 year old home, neighborhood has changed with new housing estates taking over the farms even the old factory has been replaced. Don't know if the people have changed, hope so because it was the kind of place that strangers might not go home in one piece if they wandered in on a Friday night.
