    Water - water - water .

    A very simple question .

    There is water .

Lots of water ...... but it's only about a half metre deep .

No possibility of tipping load after load after load after load of soil to make a base on which to work .

This is not the same question as I asked a long time ago about driving piles into water - though it kind of might be .

    Anyway . It's water .

Is there ANY possibility any way at all whatsoever at all in any way at all to pound some posts down and build a weekend place wott will be forever standing 1.5 metres above the water ?

The Venetians did it 2000 years ago !

But there's no possibility of putting soil there .

Is it possible .... or more likely is it not ?

Of course it is possible, all you need are long (20+m) precast concrete poles and a pile driving machine that can withstand the 0,5m water. You just need to find the right guys to do it for you.

Just out of curiosity; why is adding soil not possible? In the Netherlands we've created a huge island in the middle of the sea and so have we done in Dubai.

    Hi Koetjeka .

I just can't imagine finding anyone who can deliver soil to this spot .

There are times when the water is down and this land appears ..... but it's not firm .

I just can't imagine that there's anybody around Korat who could actually get the soil to the location .

The Netherlands does it all the time and so does Venice - so they have the huge barges with the rams - but I don't see anybody in Thailand being able to do it .

Or if there is someone I imagine the cost would be huge .

Maybe you just need to figure out how many 6m piles you need and employ a local contractor?

An alternative for a DIY guy would be some blue PVC pipe and a power washer or high pressure pump. Close on end of a pipe and insert pipe fitting and connect pressurized water, place open end on the ground apply weight or have two guys stand on it like the video and turn on the pressurized water. When the first 6m has sunk in you can join another 6m and repeat. Could all be done from a std. small Thai aluminium flat bottom construction boat. When finished fill tubes with concrete.

I think the Thais will do it the first way!

Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

Gas pump with large diameter hoses to drain.
Backhoe to dig out all that great growing soil down to hardcore and sell or store for your garden.?

Otherwise just sell the land and build elsewhere?

We couldn't get a backhoe near this , Crepitas .

I fancy an experiment based on VocalNeal's advice .

Later in the year I'm going to buy a few lengths of concrete pipe and some collars and I'm getting the local villains to come and stand on it as in that video , bounce it down 5 metres , suck out the soil , attach the next one and see how far down we can bounce it all .

Suck out the soil . Fill it with steel rods and concrete . And see how that goes .

I think it will be a totally wasted afternoon but a Hell of a good laugh !!!!
