    Furniture Building

Hey guys, new to this site and looking for some help.

I am currently building made to order furniture in Bangkok. I have worked my way through quite a few saw mills and timber suppliers who claim to have kiln or air dried Teak only to find the timber green in the middle. I have only ever found a small amount of reclaimed Teak from a shop but would be interested in using that if I could find a regular supplier.

Does any one have any contacts for either the dried Teak or reclaimed Teak in Bangkok?

    Thanks in advance

Might be worth purchasing some and air drying or vacuum/etc drying your own. That way you will be assured of the % moisture?

    Welcome Rosco

I don't know in Bangkok but near to me there are many shop selling reclaimed Teak.
This is near Ratchaburi & Kanchanaburi 80 Kilometres outside Bangkok.

Thanks guys. I had thought about traveling for the reclaimed stuff. Might be the better option, get some stock in. I will be forking out for new thicknesser, band saw etc so investing in drying gear now would be too much but defo something to consider for the future, thanks.

I take it you know about the softwood selling/furniture manufacture down at Klong Toey port. Just wondering if some alternating colours/wood would be a good "artistic" idea?

Not cabinet making but please be aware that carpentry and/or wood carving are reserved occupations so keep your head down!

    Thanks Neal

Never heard of it before, will go check it out.

Got some response from sawmills and suppliers. The best being up in Chiang Mai. Looks I will have to start buying in bulk haha.

If you have the contact number of suppliers you should contact him and tell him the issue. Maybe you don't have to go by yourself. Is your suppliers offering you home delivery opportunities ?
