Thread: Walls first or Floor first

I would like to get some opinions and advice on this.

I have always read where you pour the reinforced concret floor first for a pond and then build up the walls. Lately I have read where sometimes they build the walls first and then pour the floor.

For information I build with breeze blocks, filled with waterproof concret and then render the walls.

For the floor I use rebar and concret mixed on site. Then I paint walls and floor with two or more coats of a good leak proof paint.

I would like to know how they seal between wall and floor and to be able to post the two different articles I found using goggle, but, I can't find them again.

Either way you should put in a cold joint seal.

You will always put the floor before the wall, as this picture illustrates (concrete floor / concrete wall):

Everyone has his own query about that but I think it will work either way. What does your contractor recommend you about it ? You should consult some professional rather than searching it on google.

Dew ponds use clay,will you have a natural flow to fill a spring etc?

^ Doc it's called a 'cold seal' joint. The same as used when constructing a swimming pool.

I would pour the floor first then user waterstops in the joints.

I agree with Jonny, every one has his on the query, the best way is to consult with a good builder nearby you.
