    Advice for getting groundworks done

Does anyone have any solid contacts or advice for getting the groundworks done, digger hire, earth moving, concrete companies etc ?
Currently having plans drawn up + BoQ etc....as i really want to do most of the building work myself.
Ideally i'd like to have the groundworks and drainage done for me.....possibly even the foundations/slab. I'm guessing it'll be hard trying to find a big builder who only wants to price for that though.
Failing any of the above.....does anyone know a decent small time builder worth working with. I don't mind "thai time" or the never ending festival breaks.
    Cheers.

I think you should make a new topic?
I can do the drawing and all of the calculations for you if you want.

//edit: oh huh? I guess a mod made a new topic, you can ignore my post now, sorry.

    George,

You might add your location that would help others answer your question. Usually there is a local guy around who has some experience of construction. You provide the knowledge and he organizes the work. You buy all the materials etc.

Full of pit falls... but can be done with patience. I have a friend who did that only the pool was contracted out.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.
You people, you think I know feck nothing; I tell you: I know feck all

never mind, it is the same for any area

get some plans done of what you want

find a couple of local builders, give each a copy of said plans, ask for cost estimate for their work, you will pay for materials

choose who you think will be OK, be on site to check the quality of build as much as possible, or pay someone else who has some experience

if you need help and are not building until October, my wife will be available to find a builder and oversee any works

she can even get the drawings done for you
    I have reported your post

    DrAndy,

thanks for the pointers.....taking "thai time" into the equation.
Its more likely to be next year before the plans are approved, i've priced the materials, i've bought a pick up and trailer etc etc and i'm 100% happy to begin.

My last house in the UK was a 4bed 4bath detached....so i'm used to hang-ups, snags and waiting around. But obviously with Thailand its a daunting prospect given the language barriers and fully understanding the principles of those around me.
Saying that......Scotland was the same actually ha !
The only problems at home are the council building officials and the never ending building regs........actual builders and tradesmen are the least of your worries.

When the time arises, i would definately appreciate more info regarding recommended builders etc.
    Many thanks.....
