Thread: Off grid complete solar package

I have just completed a new build cottage on a farm in Chaiyaphoom area and very far away from any mains connection, i can get the lines run to property but im looking at 300K +,
All im looking for is a solar sytem completely Offgrid with enough power to supply 1 AC unit,Fridge,Tv etc so doesnt have to be a monstor set up
Any body got any clues on best supplier cost etc

You obviously don't like generators, which would be the cheapest way

Solar power to run aircon would have to be a decent sized set-up and would cost a lot

I did some research on this a few years ago. There are many small firms out there, but you have to have a good idea of just how much power you will need in order to get any sense out of them. The guys name is Danny and I can recommend him as well. Knows his onions as they say and isn't as expensive as some of the Farang electricians around. He used to be based on Samui but like most got sick and left.

I've checked his facebook page, and I've got to say it looks like this guy actually knows what he's doing, opposed to all of the Thai electricians here... Does anyone know how far he is willing to travel?

sadly i suspect 300k to get you on grid will be considerably cheaper than going solar

A decent generator is the way to go. Noise may be a problem.

Hmmm... yes. For some reason I was thinking the requirement was for backup use - not a fulltime replacement. Would end up very expensive to run and used continuously would need regular maintenance.

I had them install an on grid installation on my house. I had purchased the panels myself and they did the installation. I live in Amphur Suwannaphum. They will travel depending on availability.

I went to koh phayam recently. The whole island has no mains. Most places run off generators run 4-5 hours a day. However, solar power is gaining big time there and a lot of the resorts are genuinely pioneering the technology. Beautiful island, take a few days off and visit it. Sure the solar power heads will be willing to share their knowledge

I plan to build a cheap, modular solar/wind system to help supplement power from the grid. With the size of the house, I doubt we can supply everything. But it would be an interesting exercise, as I will be taking advantage of my son's BSEE skills in laying this all out. A nice father/son thing.
We've got a decent amount of land to work with. We obviously get a good amount of sun and nice breeze.

A Good steak- fed on the ruined habitat of ex-forest. Smoked over tropical hardwood, and we need to destroy quite a few trees to get to those few remaining. The decent ones, anyway.
It's the next best thing to tigers penis, although us poor folk have to suffice with bear bile washed down with sharks fin soup.

if you have beans with it, that would be proper recycling

I looked at the Facebook page. They certainly look like they know what they are doing and they are probably in the right area (Hua Hin) as it looks like they wouldn't be cheap.

Bangkok Solar. 1.5 kWp is 135,000, 3 is 267,000 and 5 is 445,000.

Of course this only generates when the sun is shinning! I'm sure they have inverters and will know how many batteries you need.

I contacted them via their FB page and got their website. They say they are still working on the web site. Wouldn't hurt to bookmark it for later.
