Question about water connection to new fridge.

So I bought a fancy new fridge with an ice maker and water connection. It is about 3 metres away from the sink where the water supply is. I had a pipe run over to where the fridge is located. It comes with an in line filter so I could just connect up the water to the blue 1/2 inch pipe and attach the small (about 1/4") flexible pipe to that.

My question is that I still have one of those 5 filter arrays that I could mount under the sink. I could the run the small 1/4" flexible pipe that exits the filter array inside the blue pipe and connect that to the fridge. My thinking is that will give superior filtration of what will become my main drinking water source. My only concern is that having about 3 metres of 1/4" flexible pipe will there be enough pressure at the fridge?

I could try it and if it doesn't work just hook up the blue pipe and use only the filter that comes with the fridge but I thought having the extra filtration would be worth it and there may be a brainiac here who may know and save myself the ball ache of stuffing about with it.

The pressure will be the same.
The flow rate will be lower

you do get static pressure drop from straight runs of pipe , but probably negligible

bobcocks a piping eng I think - ask him

So enough to make ice but slower flow from the water dispenser...

I'm thinking the only way to tell is to try it....I'd still like the filters under the sink and a tap at the sink so I can fill bottles which I think may be hard to do from the fridge dispenser.

a little different the work BC does to a 3m hose to the fridge but fair call lol

In my last house ran about 2m hose, though a Pure static filter to the fridge. It had a reservoir in the fridge anyway so there was no effect on pressure. Does yours have a holding tank for a litre or two?

Ah. Good news, I didn't consider the reservoir. I'll try it, can always pull the small flex out of the blue pipe if it doesn't work.

Or I may find I can't get the flex run in the blue pipe anyway, there are a few corners...

Corners? Even that might be out of BC depth. Best get a process flow dude on the scene.
