Thread: What do you pay for air-con cleaning?

I have done this twice in four years for the current uits, but both times I seem to remember paying very different sums.

It needs to be done again, and I have four units in total, so for an average 18,000 btu unit say, how much have you paid to have it cleaned in the past?

Only got one unit....in the bedroom. Pay 400 to have it cleaned 2 or 3 times a year.

Having said that, our unit is a Daikin and not as good as the LG we had before. Apparently the fins are too close together so it blocks up with mucus too easily. Next time I won't be so cheap and will go for a Mitsubishi.

Think I pay about 1000bt for 2 units.

I think my landlord pays 400b per unit.

Same 500 to clean inside and out. They should do the compressor as well. At my place btu size does not matter.

Thanks for the usefull info guys , we have one in our bedroom in the wifes old Thai house needs doing before we return ,, I,m 99% sure they wont try to rip me off ,, will let you know later

My father taught me that a big house came with big expenses. His words ring true today.

As my mini-empire has grown so has the expenses. Now you got me to thinking about toilets...

400-500 seems the standard price then.

250 baht, got his card if anyone wants it. Before always paid 400. You can't really do a good job yourself without a power hose.

I do mine myself. Just pop the covers off, take the filters out and give them a good hosing out making sure all the dust is out.

Dry in the sun and pop the filters back in. Job done, peace of piss.

500 baht per unit including chemical top off.

Anybody got any idea how much it costs to have aircons moved? The inside unit and the compressor.

For those that do it themselves how do you check the pressure? And if needed, a refill?

Do it yourself if you can, not to save money but so it's done right. I have not let a Thai touch my car, and my motorcycle has been screwed up every time a Thai has worked on it.

Little things like putting the throttle cable on a motorcycle so tight the engine races when you turn the handlebars and cutting off the excess so it cannot be adjusted, or putting larger light bulbs in it than Honda did because everyone knows bigger is better. Until I fixed it myself I was blinding every car on the other side many of who retaliated by putting on their high beams.

The last one was my television, a 32" Sony LCD that was about 3 years old. The sound went out so I took it into a shop in Ban Chang. The guy wants 1800 Baht for telling me there is "something bad on the circuit board" but he cannot fix it. Fook him, he can keep it, I'll buy a new one.

The school hired a technician to clean the air conditioner in my classroom. On the bottom there are small plastic openings to reach the filters, like most of the large old type air conditioners have, he broke off the plastic latches on half of them so they now have to be taped closed.

Mate I'll do it for you at the cost of a cup of coffee. Remember I was an hvac engineer (a/c) for 34 years. Plus it will give me a chance to visit.
