    Protecting your water meter

When building a new home ,or remodeling an older home. What should be done to keep
your water meter from walking off in the late of night.
This morning I notice I no longer had one!. So we called the local Water office here in pattaya
and the lady said to come in and file a report. So we did and upon talking with three different
people I made a request That the new water meter be installed inside the gate or wall.
Butt-No, that cannot be done because that is illegal. One of the ladies told us that thai law says the meter has to be outside of the wall and that the home owner is responsible for protecting
    that meter.
Truth or lie, fact or fiction???.
Does anyone know of a nice looking cage or something or another to lock the thing.

I had a similar thing happen to me.

it turned out to be the water company that took it because i had not paid my bill.
I told them i had never recived a bill.
They asked me my adress and i told them.
"we have no record of your house, you dont have a water account with us"
Ok then.....can i have an account please?
    "yes you can"
can i have the meter back also?
    "yes you can!"
    when?
    "tomorrow!"

    wooop de doooo

free water for 4 months, i would have washed the car a lot more had i known.

maybe have to build a steel box so that they can not take off the meter with the lock up under it so they can not get to it to break it and a slot so the guy can read the meter.
I don't know how the meter is held on here, just by the pipe unions I suppose, so something that covers that part too, wouldn't have to be to large.
