Wahhhhh.....really get on my nerves.....looks like I really need to squeeze everything out of my pocket and up my budget....thanks all for the kind replies....i will let you guys know if I'm really squatting & showering my arse.....

You can make a nice house of 80-100sqm for 800k, if relatives help (and are trustworthy); 700k may be possible too, fine for Thais to live in; 600k does seem to be tight...

Bettyboo, Your idea of a nice house for 800k is a Thai style IMO.

Realize I'm bucking the trend here, but 600,000 Baht is about $20,000, yes. I just built a basic house here in the Philippines for far less that that; it's basic, but quite nice. I already owned the land, used workmen I knew well from the build of my house a couple of years ago, and used middle-range materials. It has two small bedrooms, a western-style bathroom, combined living room/dining room, and small kitchen. To be occupied by one of my wife's older kids, his wife and baby. He put up Peso 100,000 ($2,500), and I covered another $2,500 on an interest-free loan. Of course, once my wife got into it (she also built our house), we went over budget, but we brought in an electrician who owed us money who did all the work as a loan payback, and a cabinet maker who was doing some other projects for me. Total cost was under $7,000. Now that's a little over Baht 200,000. It's quite a nice little starter home, and certainly big enough for their small family. It's well built, has a nice little porch out back, an outside dirty kitchen, and is on a plot of land big enough to build another small house at a later date. If I had had the OP's budget (more than 3 times what I spent), I could have made a really nice, larger house.

I saw a nice little wooden granny flat they built in Chiang Mai city for 150K. Very small but ok for someone living alone and maybe a couple with no kids. So it can be done cheap.

Ill-informed post of dis-information. Why post about crap you know nothing about? 1.2M gets a a very tidy little (or decent size) house built. 1.2M is getting us 4 BR 3 BR's and a decent sized seperate living quaters / granny flat.

Hell, for 2M Baht you can buy nice enough house and land packages. Definitely 'livable' anyway.

Well..its for me to find out whether is possible a not.....thanks for all the kind replies....i guess house building in thailand is no longer cheap...and everyone just want to earn a quick buck nowadays....

You can build a fairly nice place for 600k if you're smart enough with the design and materials used.

1,065,000 baht will get you a western styled house with a large living room ,3 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms complete with toilet and wash-hand basin and western style kitchen so yes you will be able to build a thai-style house for your in-laws for 600,000 bhat "no problem"...just watch what you are doing thats all....

he didnt mentioned how many rooms.....i decided to give him the rooms' sizes and ask him to sketch the plan......a room 3.5 by 4.5m is it too small?........
