Where to find skilled builders locally?

I work at a interior design and product sourcing company and lately we've come to need more builders. Good ones are really hard to find in Thailand, or for the matter Bangkok. Does anybody know or can recommend good builders they know?

I know a guy who helped out when I needed two new doors fitting. The door frames were slightly different heights, so I very carefully measured the frames (and the old doors that came out of them), and ordered two new doors the right sizes. My guy came one day when I was out and the missus let him in. He measured the first door frame and the first door, realised the door was slightly too big and cut a slice off the top. Then he measured the second door frame and the second door, realised the door was slightly too small, and glued the slice from the first door onto the second door.

If I'd had a gun, I would happily have shot the fucker. Would you like his number?

It happens anywhere when the customer goes with the cheapest bid. In the U.S., I helped my sister fix up her newly purchased 40 year old house, which had one previous owner that did nothing to it for 35 years. I installed new wood floors in several rooms and painted her kitchen cabinets and several widows and door frames. They had a crew of Mexicans paint the walls and all the doors. They took off the doors, without marking where they would go back. They started putting them back, shaving and cutting doors to make them fit. Then, they came to the doors that left gaps either at the top or bottom when hanged. It was left to me to cut 2x4's to fit those gaps, sand them smooth with the edge of the doors, and paint them. They also broke the sliding glass door in the kitchen. I still get calls from my sister on how to fix problems, like the gaps on the painted six paneled doors, which now show dark stain, where the painters did no preparation, like sanding. The Thais that built my house were master craftsmen, compared to these idiots.
