1st Column Erecting Ceremony

The 1st column erecting ceremony is for good luck. The ceremony is performed on the 1st column (And in this case is located near the center of the house) and has to be completed before the rest of the house build can continue. There are only a certain number of dates that the ceremony can be performed and the dates for each house are chosen by the Monk based on the owners birth dates.
I am looking forward to see it.
The idea of showing videos is a great one. However, a few tidbits of information might save you some money and aggravation in the long run. Just my 2 satangs worth.
My wife and I want to build another hut on her property in Nakhon Pathom. We're looking for a more open design that includes bamboo. Her idea.
Sounds good to me. I will start as soon as I find a suitable spot for the structure.
I'm sure glad labor is cheap in thailand. If ya were to build something simple not on the large side I guess ya could get it done for 3/4 of A million baht.
I look forward to see the next videos.
My wife wants to have built a house next year.
Nice one keep the updates coming.
Update coming soon, If I can get the video to attach.

My wife is from Maha Sarakham, and her family is still there, so this thread is quite interesting. Please continue with many installments!
I'm in with watching from a distance, Codfish.
Mine is almost completed but no Vids to share... may film it once the entire landscaping is completed and the selected hedging is some half meter high and the surroundings are nicely filled too. On one side, the Black Mountain ridge encapsulates the panoramic view from the living and Master bedroom.
Ok, in the meantime, lets focus on yours with much interests by me too....
Click & check it out>>>: Cruise with me & Jingo yr feedback within YouTube.
I do not claim copyright on the images (when it's not mine) displayed. The images are only added to accentuate &/or amuse my posts.
I just watched yr 2nd vid and this must be very new and challenging as well with regards to the Thai tradition and cultural approach with laying the foundation of your Thai home in a somewhat ceremonial ritual.
I was wondering, how is the sewerage piping and deposits be like and will it be deep into the ground somewhere far back but closer to a spot not too near your neighbors?
How are your utility & connection points linked to fresh water supply be like? R U planning a concrete house as in bricks and mortar or based more on natural resources with heavy bamboo and wooden planks etc?
So much questions for sure but seeing more soon is going to be interesting for sure. Keep it coming....
Codfish we love to see these building posts ,, but usually done in photo,s with comments ,,, just a thought mate its a lot quicker to upload some pics than a video to you tube ( well it is on my com )
Anyway all the best mate all being well in a few years time ( about 4 ) I shall be doing mine , can,t wait
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs
All your questions well be answered in in time, Stay tuned...
The house is concrete and yes it is a challenge to understand the importance of some of the rituals, Like luck days to do things on and the last on was a bottle of whiskey for a ghost, I have no idea...All I know is I have one less bottle of happiness.
OK youtube finally got the bugs worked out so I can post this small update.

Just a little update on day 4 of the build, minutes before we packed up to drive back to Pattaya. Not much actual building has taken place yet but enough of the supplies are on site to get started.
The heels conkred water son, that the steel will not rust so easily
Codfish, you are a better man than me by leaving the construction crew to build the house. I guess I am more of a control freak and would want to be there every day to see what their progress is and that they are not cutting corners.
Yes I would second what Rick,s saying , and that is exactly what I,ll be doing ,, having said that I am lucky enough to be able to live in the wife,s house which is only gonna be a 40 min drive from our build. Codfish sounds like he,s heading back away to Pattaya
It would drive me nuts to have to watch them work slow for the next 6 or 7 months, We do have a engineer that does a visit every week or two and takes pictures for us but I know he well not send me pictures of anything that is not as it should be. I told them form the start that I well be making unannounced visits, Not sure if that well help or not. Only time well tell.
Codfish, nice thread, I am looking forward to following it as I'll be starting out on our place in the next year or so depending on the cash and exchange rates!
I know you favor the video format and I enjoy them but would be interested to see if you have any plans so I know what it will be like when it is finished.
Glad you are on the concrete road, another coupla hundred meters and......
Nice looking, rural area. Don't worry about everyone up at the crack of dawn because they may well be asleep soon after dusk.
Good luck Codfish.
Very bloody good matey, keep banging away, you have kicked a winner.
Cheers American dude.
