    Staircases in Thailand

Yet another riveting post by the dog on something that affects us all...

Now generally stairs here in thailand are made out of concrete and are as ugly as hell, this first staircase we made out of teak wood, this we charged about 150,000baht for.

    now aint that a beauty

yep its real teak, each piece was sanded and laquered.

Do you ever do spiral staircases or 'open tread' ones?

Here's one I built with my own hands, this was done with spare broken tiles, yes I realise the color scheme is something Issan Alex would choose, but hell I had the tiles spare.

Hmm, steel & wood. I can see that I'm going to have to keep a tight rein on DD when he builds my mansion...

Arthur, you can't be serious about that ceiling, I mean it's foking awful and tacky, as for the stairs I should imagine that they are very slippery when wet, I hope she aint trying to kill you or more importantly your dog.....

Nowt wrong with the ceiling. Actually we don't live there yet, when we visit I don't go upstairs, it's a mess and will be done out eventually. The ground floor is nice though.

That steel looks good but does not match that good with the wood, Marmite is right.

And finaly the long awaited spiral staircase, actually this thing was a real nightmare to actually work out how to build, ie we knew where wanted to start the steps from and also where they ended, it was the working out the inbetween bits.

    Thai Teak Wood Steps

Well here are some more traditional Thai stairs, although I don't think they made many spiral ones in the old days, this is at some hotel they are building on Soi Kor Pai in Pattaya.

More the old style ones here.

Dear lord! Dirty Dog has been in my house taking pictures of my stairs!

Those are snap to ours, except of the colouring maybe. Our floors are a lot darker than that.
