I would like to share with you my hobby, these are some of the latest 3D renders I've done for a few projects in and around Thailand.

thanks, I scan in the blueprints and create the linework from plan or cad file then build up the model in 3ds max 2009, texturing and rendering with vray 1.5 its great, edit: post processing in photoshop

Why do you call it a hobby? Do you do this for enjoyment? The designs are nothing special but you have skill as a renderer. I wish more people would go back to sketching and painting these kind of residential designs - computer generated images just look so plastic to me.

Nick sorry to be so insensitive but to be honest I have a personal aversion to these sorts of monolithic, featureless designs.
They give no thought to the heat loading and natural ways and means of keeping a dwelling conditioned.
Although I must admit the drawing is pretty.

Myself, I don't do rendering, possibly because I am too old and stupid, but mainly becasue they are made for stupid people that have not the imagination to picture a build from engineering drawings.

true, but the great thing about rendered pics is that the proportions will be accurate. these days architects sketches (at least with the architects i've met) tend to be preliminary, and they use models (still) and renders when they have measurements.

they do seem to give a false impression though, or maybe that is because I haven't enough experience with them

I like the walk-through 3D constructs, they are fun! But I rely on just plan drawings to visualise what the place will look like - the real thing is often a pleasant surprise

Typically Thai but there is a reason for that, they love it. i mean LOVE it.
I prefer Google sketch up anyone can make 3D drawings from plan. no need to pay anyone. i did it for my house. EASY.
but the op has made renders artsy with his vanilla skies.

Great programme and much easier than acad or bentley cad. Inclusing with the included rendering/shadows and geolocate / terrain input from google earth.
