    Apartment Entry systems

anyone know of where they sell the apartment entry system?

the one I want is the type that has seperate buzzers for each apartment, with a loudspeaker/microphone built in to the plate

each apartment then has a similar spkr/mic and a button for auto opening the main door to let the visitor in
    I have reported your post

sounds good; I don't need the video but I am sure they do a simple system

    thanks

but that is from Kensington, trying to fit stuff into homes they are building

I will try to find out their supplier.....

Kensington can also construct a safe room inside your home. This is a special room which is built to provide you a place of complete safety and security. Once inside with the door locked, no intruder can reach you. It is constructed of reinforced concrete and has a reinforced steel door

Smoke will soon get them out regardless of how secure the door is.

I was thinking of the cheap way forward, just fitting a security lock with a code to open

then the visitor can call the occupant and get told the code

the code can be changed every now and then; the only problem is forgetting it!

Did you say you had reception, are they 24 h?

You get them to buzz people in and sign in they phone up and check with the room, you restrict people to x amount of guests. I find in Thailand with Thai people they always phone and come down to greet, us lazy folk buzz up.

Blindfolding them, whitenoise and orange jump suits are completely optional.

Yes. Especially at 4am after Spicy closes. A key-card or some kind of proximity card/wand is also possible, but people lose those too. Fingerprint scanner will likely work; people tend not to forget their fingers no matter how good the night out. Those are not expensive anymore. (Simple USB scanner built into / onto the wall, and software that determines access and then unlocks the door.

You still need the intercom feature and remote unlock, of course. That assumes there's a cable to every unit anyway, so with that you might as well make it video I suppose; simple web-cam type technology over TCP/IP and a regular LAN cable, I don't think that adds much to the price.

A HUGE advantage of this over other methods (Keys and cards) means you don't need to change locks or change codes when a renter leaves. Changing the lock or even changing a code inconveniences the other renters. With fingerprint access you get to revoke access to anyone in a couple seconds, and you could likely even do it without needing to go there. (Not pay rent: sorry, no more access. Rachman's wet dream. )

Thanks; made a small edit in my post above to add the advantage of fingerprint over keys, cards and codes: no need to change locks or change codes when a renter leaves.

EDIT: But then it may add some work as well; every time a renter gets a new girlfriend or boyfiend (which I presume will be a weekly occurrence with 8 renters ) you (or the receptionist) would need to add her/his fingerprint to the system to grant her/him access. That's both a negative and a positive: it adds work, but on the plus side you keep excellent tabs on who enters the building.

Plus you now have their fingerprints, and a clear process to establish access where the receptionist can also do a copy of her ID card. In a basic system with only a number code on the other hand the renter can give the code to half of Spicy and tell them to come visit when they want a place to crash, and you'll never know about it. And you get access records; you know who enters the building when in case that information is ever needed.

And again access is easily revoked for person individually as soon as the relationship ends, also a weekly occurrence. :P

BTW, on the topic of security, will you build in room safes? The cheapo type will probably suffice.

I was only talking bout how to let visitors into the main building, not the individual apartments

so when a visitor comes around, the people in the upper floors would have to throw down their finger to let them in

    not a good solution

no, these are rental apartments, not a hotel for short term visits

If you have a multi number unit when a tenant leaves you simply change his/her number.

I guess fingerprint stuff has changed but I could never get the office system to recognize my right hand index finger always had to use my left hand. (Joke there somewhere but..)

LOL, no of course not. These locks can be operated by finger print, but also support remote unlock from a unit installed in each apartment. That unit may have a video screen and/or audio. And a button to unlock.

I can't say I have a solid lead, other than the link I posted earlier (http://www.chiangmaicam-tel.com/prod...BT99_Plus.html ) Another potential place to start would be the security shop in Chiang Mai Pantip plaza. They mostly do cameras and alarm systems, but wouldn't surprise me if they have access systems as well, or at least know where to look.

But hopefully someone else reading this will have a first-hand recommendation or solid lead.
