sandwash sealant

am going to have my path which is sandwash jet washed once the rain stops, its almost black

is there a sealant i can put on afterwards which might afford some protection, any one any experience with this, cheers

We had the same problem last year with the Shanghai rendered (small stones set in concrete) paths and decks at our home
It requires scrubbing with some very nasty chemical - could be Hydrocloric Acid by the yellow fumes I saw coming off and then a coat of special sealant which was a bit expensive .

The guy we have used on two occasions K. Chang Tuun Ph 0817793697 charges by the Sq. meter. He runs a very big team of workers who specialize in laying and cleaning in the Pattaya area.

Almost one year on now - no problems

I just had the same thing made on my balcony and he used some sort of acid that was yellowish and smelled like hell. Then it started raining.

He is supposed to put a sealant on it any day now, but it's all dirty again. lol

Its hydrochloric acid for sure. You can pick it up at your neighborhood hardware store for around 200 baht per gallon. Thai's mix it 50/50 water. Scrub with a good brush wear a mask for fumes and eye protection. Don't wear your Sunday best. You can buy a power washer at Home Pro for less than 3,000 baht and your good for the rest of your life. Good for many applications including old paint removal, car wash, scat on the loo walls and the old fashioned Hooter scrub.

Many sealers available at the hardware shops from TOA,Silka and other brands.Quiete expensive though,think most of them work out at about 100 Baht a square meter.Look for the water reppelants with a picture of sandwash or natural stone on the bottle.

A very good power washer with a good detergent will do the job no need for acid inhale it and your yesterdays news !!!!. I do mine every year after the rainy season and it is as good as it was from day 1.

I got some small stones on my steps,
each step was done by a different company,
the last one was very good protected,
the others not



after cleaning the stones, how could I do some protection work (best would be, with lotus effect) ?

There is a product in the USA called Diamond Super Clear. It is essentially just clear lacquer so you could use that as a sealer. The commercial items probably have a UV inhibitor in them, but then again, maybe not.
