Win 7 works perfectly on a Netbook, too.
But if you have something even older, DSL and Puppy have a footprint <100Mb installed, and at least one of them will run entirely from RAM.
Handy if you want a machine dedicated to one particular task, like downloading or something, and have some really old hardware laying around that you can't otherwise use.
this is a nicely specs machine, wtf are you talking about, do you really think you need more for email and MS Office ?Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
Yep Win 7 with 2Gb works on most things. I actually disabled the pagefile on my Netbook to save the SSD and it's still fine.
I am surprised you can't run Ubuntu, you must be fucking up the installation somehowOriginally Posted by Marmite the Dog
a shame the interface looks like a poor clone of MacOS X otherwise I would have upgraded,Originally Posted by harrybarracuda
anyway Win2000 and WinXP doing all I need, who needs more ?
If they work for you, that's great - good luck to you. I remember Windows millenium, 2000, XP and vista causing me nothing but problems (the O/s, not office...). Now, windows is so invasive that I just don't accept their 'right' to come in and out of my system/life at will...Originally Posted by harrybarracuda
Still very happy with Linux, it's easier, quicker and more user friendly than I thought it'd be.

^ sorry Harry, it was a Papillion quote... I must've messed up the formatting, it was meant to be directed at the Belgium lad, sorry...
I had a laptop with Win7 this week-end to play with,
what a horrible interface, I thought I was back in the 90s
