There are way too many apps available to sift through, and most of the recommendations I've found online or through other people only work in the US and Europe.
What Android apps do you find essential over here in Thailand?

I'm new to this stuff but 'Task Killer' has been good thus far and prevents my Galaxy Tab thing from slowing down.
I downloaded 'Advanced Task Killer' yesterday- also look into 'Juice Defender' to save your battery.
Advanced, that's the one.
What about anti-virus, is it needed. In the market tab AVG was recommended but folks are already complaining about it?
I've heard a bit about it but I don't know for sure- it's probably not a bad idea.
If you're on a limited data package, download "3G Watchdog". You enter your monthly allowance, and it tracks usage.
Also, Opera Mini, which compresses web pages and saves your bandwidth, too.
I'll post more later, my Android's at home while I wait in vain for this frigging WP7 update to arrive.
My data is unlimited, fortunately.
After some trial-and-error, I also found that Opera Mini is the best phone browser (Firefox for Android let me down).
Oh, don't forget AppBrain.

Don't download Bubble Blast 2, it will ruin your life.
These 2 look neat
Google Goggles This is a fun app that is a little but ahead of its time. It does visual searches. You can take pictures of things and then the app tries to tell you what they are. It’s limited in its scope but it is pretty cool, and it’s definitely a peek into the future. One of the coolest features is the ability to take pictures of text in a foreign language and let that app translate for you. In a foreign country, this can help you read street signs and avoid going into the wrong bathroom. :-)
Google Sky Map
Ever look up at the night sky and try to tell your kids the name of that constellation you’re pointing at, or try to remember which planet that is in the southern sky? Google SkyMap lets you point your smartphone at it and get the information. This is part of a new breed of apps called “Augmented Reality” apps that layer digital information on top of real world experiences.
ebuddy is good.
I use it to keep in touch on Msn Messenger and Facebook chat
Forgot to mention 'Thinking Space' with is a mind map app and 'Catch' which is great for reminders, voice notes and other useful stuff.
'Pulse' is also useful and easy to use for up-to-date news and other info.
There are so many it's mind-boggling (and the iPhone people were bragging about their phone having more apps- who needs more?)
does it work on these also ?Originally Posted by sabaii sabaii

I know there is a 10inch unit out soon but i bought the 7" as it's ideal for the car gps.
Which GPS app are you using and does it have up to date Thailand maps?
Free Music Download works great- I've downloaded many songs over the past couple of days.
