Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Released

It's available now on Windows update, but you may want to read this first:

Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 from the Microsoft Download Center

Note particularly the recommendation to download and install this first:

    KB2454826

Note that this will do the genuine validation check thingy.

The total download for me is 98Mb, it's been going for 110 minutes and I have a 2Mb satellite link direct to a European backbone that I virtually have to myself (don't ask).

I suspect that you must have been one of the first in there, lucky boy.

Anything significant to report? I haven't even seen a Change Log.

Are you trying to d/l it directly or through Windows Update?

I'd do the latter, it's recommended for standalone PCs.

What errors? Did you try clearing your cache before you ran it?

Lots of people reporting that it's as slow as ****.

I downloaded the SP1 .iso last night, it came down pretty quickly.

Will install SP1 on my home machine's tonight and report back if there is any issues installing this onto dodgy software.

I didn't get asked to install that.

If you do regular Windows Updates, you'll already have it. The technote said that if it wasn't installed it would cause installation lockups on some computers.

I think I blocked the update of that one, actually.

That would make perfect sense. If you had a good reason. What was that by the way?
