Question Where's the serial number then???

Got Final Cut Studio 3 from Fortune Town yesterday and I got a copy as it was 150 baht and 59,849 baht cheaper than the genuine one.

However, they didn't tell me where the serial number was and I forgot to ask, but I can't see it on the box or anywhere on the disc.

    Am I missing something?

Come on Thormaturge that doesn't help does it, you know full well that serial numbers should not be a separate entity from the pirate software package, when I got Photoshop the serial number was on the disk.

I have always liked TeakDoor, it's only flaw is that you do have to wait a good couple of hours to get a decent answer and if you're lucky it will be on the first page, nestled among the half arsed smart arse responses.

Butterfly yes I did for PS3 and it was on the disk, this time it isn't.

    No key JJ.

How the fuck can anyone know where the serial number/keygen is, without having a copy of the disc and holding your hand for you?

Pop to my office and I'll find it in seconds for you.

Rule of thumb, look for a readme.txt file, a directory called Crack, a file called keygen.exe, you know, those give away signs.....

^^ Well it was my assumption that at least a few of you who hang in the computer section might at least have some familiarity with purchasing software from Panthip/Fortune Town and that the serial numbers are usually located in the same place, but if it ain't on the disk or the packaging then I guess the retailers have fucked up.

Alright then, let's move onto the 'Essential Training' DVD, it's full of Quicktime files for each chapter of the disc, and fortunately they are all Quicktime files which is great because I use Quicktime all the time and my laptop is very compatible with Quicktime, they have a great relationship, Quicktime and my laptop.

So I click on a few of the files and they all come up with the same thing:

The movie could not be opened/The file is not a movie file.

Well I've got news for you laptop, yes it fucking IS a movie file, it's Quicktime for fucks sake, you know - your favorite????

Do I need to go to Fortune Town and spit the dummy?

Yeah looked for all that and it the readme stuff was asking me for the licence number, not offering it on a silver platter. There was no crack code like there has been in previous naughty software.

Files on tuition disk can't even be opened by the worlds best file conversion software which is so good I paid for it! Well i'll be damned!

So i'll pop it out and it's back in with FC Studio 3 to see if I missed something on the disk in regards to serial numbers.

Nope, I covered everything on the disk and it's all official.

Bobcock I appreciate the invite to your office, but unless there's some hidden 'easter egg' containing the serial number then I don't see how what you see will be different from what I see.

As for the tutorial, well if my laptop is now telling me that movie files are not movie files and that black is white and water is dry then who am I to argue? I'm flesh and bone and pissed off.

looks like you got a very bad copy, happens more often than not, as long as suckers buy it, they will get away with it

do the real thing, buy it online from England or the US, it might not be that expensive and you are using those software all the time

and they provide free technical support so you can annoy them with your silly questions instead of Teakdoor

And so it dies, fucking useless! It's not like I haven't installed copied software before, I know how it usually works. Anyway, nobdy here knows the answer so they doth mock instead, I guess that's what you get for being the author of Stiffy the Ponk.

I'd ask on Thai Visa but i'd probably get banned for ten years for admitting to buying pirated software.

..and this time it wasn't on the disc. It is as I said, you are missing the serial number. We can't tell you where it is if there isn't one.

This either means you have been had or, more probably, the guys are turning them out so quickly that they didn't realise there was no number on the disc.

It's probably worth going back and speaking to the people who sold it to you.

Do you still have the VAT receipt?

What sort of camera are you using these days, Scampy?

I just did a couple of broadcast pieces this morning and our crew used a 'Sony High Definition' camera. The Producer told me it is production quality - though it is not a great big piece of kit, its only about 6 inches long.

^ I recently invested 170k on a Panasonic AG-HMC152 and a GoPro Hero, and the former is not compatible with iMovie HD. Another member of my 'team' handles the bulk of the editing but I'm under pressure to get up to speed on FCP as soon as possible.

you should be able to obtain serial numbers for all these pirated programmes by searching around on google. there are websites devoted to serial numbers, passwords and keygen stuff.

Well it should be included with the disc that I paid for at Fortune Town so that I don't have to arse about on Google. Thanks anyway Tax but BOTH the dvd's are screwed, i'll need to take back the tutorial as well anyway.

I'm sure it's on there somewhere, nestled between the keystroke logger and the viruses. Just run Setup.exe and ignore any warnings about "this may completely fuck up your computer".
