Obviously want to protect their Apple ad revenue if they are brown nosing Jobs so badly.
Best netbook a Toshiba? Are they fucking kidding?
Best Desktop: Try this at $1300

And spend the other $700 on a decent monitor.

it's all paid publicity, pointless
My kids use the Toshiba netbooks. They are now a year and a half old and still have not had a problem. They like them and I like them. Glad to see them get some publicity.
The same as many other brands, AO, but they certainly are not the best nor the cheapest.
Maybe not harry, but they sure are fast and trustworthy. Not a problem one. I have had an Acer for 8 months the University gave me. It is a piece of shit. I leave it at home and take the netbook off one of the kids. Full size keyboard 10.5 inch screen and a 5 to 6 hour battery life.
18 months ago it was on top of Consumer Reports, thats why I picked them up.
Acer has always been shit, but most US brands are ok
I bought my lad the Asus 1201 and it beats the crap out of Toshiba, let alone Acer and HP.
I've had quite a few laptops over the years. Asus usually have excellent inside hardware specs, but they are let down severely by lack of build quality in terms of chassis (cheap flimsy plastic), unless you get their high end models where they actually spend a bit of cash on a solid body made of quality plastic and metals. If you are going to use a laptop as if it were a stationary computer, or have the money to pay for a high-end ASUS, this is the brand I would pick. But for a low-end to mid range computer, I would never buy an ASUS again. Acer have slightly worse hardware specs for the money than ASUS, and slightly better build quality, but it is a case of looking at individual models really. Toshiba has good build quality even for cheap models, but they do not provide the same level of performance. They sacrifice design for sturdiness. Short of IBM/Lenovo, I'd say they are the best pick for somebody who travels a lot and expects their laptop to take a beating. HP/Compaq and Fujitsu have poor quality control. Wouldn't even consider looking at them. Sony makes fantastic machines but you pay through your nose for one.
Freedom does not chew bubblegum
My eee has been around the world, slung around in luggage, and works faultlessly (although I did replace the HD with an SSD to extend the battery life).
