But why would he want to use one of those when his notebook can read the cards without one? He just wants to get the notebook working the way it should be. Asking for advice here is a reasonable request if you ask me, considering it is the computer forum and the heading at the top of the page says:
Computer News Which nasty viruses are out to get you and what is happening in the computer world. Software or Hardware problem? Want to build a website? Need web tools? Want to know about internet connections in Thailand or Asia?

^ buying a replacement is a quick and cheap solution. why buggerize around for hours on end, getting nowhere ?

    anyhow try this,

    1) clean the contacts inside the reader if you can get to them,
    2) reinstall the OS

Thanks to all negative and positive posts. I accept it may be a slight problem for some but I don't live in a part of the country where to just drop your computer in for repair is that easy. If I can rectify the problem myself then all the better, as I'm learning. Whereas replacing parts cause they're cheap, is teaching me fcuk all, but to be lazy. Thanks again for the assistance, but I'll give up on it and put it in the docs as soon as I can.
Death is natures way of telling you to slow down.

It's never that easy. They'll probably tell you you need a new motherboard.

Easier to pick up a 250Bt multicard reader next time you get a chance.

Can anyone tell me why my location under my screen name keeps changing by itself? It went from "Bangkok" to "expat Thailand" to "Karon Beach" (wherever that is) all on it's own. Also my signature doesn't show.
