Oh, right, in response to post #25.

    Of course.

(you do keep walking into these, don't you?)

Are you a bit thick daffy?

    Did I not say:

By the way got an update on that ASUS I mentioned in post 25:
The original ASUS release announcement is posted all over the place, I merely quoted one example which summarised the spec nicely.

Which by the way, at $516, beats the shit out of your pokey little iPad in just about every way, which is probably what you don't want people to notice.

Let's see, a computer like that for $516 or an iPad 16Gb for $629?

    Ooooooh.... close call eh?!

Get off this thread, there's nothing for you fanbois here, unless you want to buy a proper computer.

Oh, it's a touchscreen.... and it seems to be running Windows. Woohoo, FTW, indeed.

Yeah, whatever. Do you have your pre-order in already, or is this another case where you just keep talking?

Why do I need pre-order when I can just buy one? ASUS don't choke supply to make it look good.

It comes out in August. I give them 1899 UAE dirhams, they give me the box.

We don't all have to do it the wanky queue up at midnight way you fanbois do, you know.

    Oh, and
    Oh, it's a touchscreen
No it's got a keyboard Daffy. It's a proper computer.

Are you thinking of buying one?

I know this thread says Laptops, but if you are wondering what you can get for your money, there's a fairly big list here of current Netbook offerings and various features, up to the Acer Core Duo:

Has "Live Prices", because they are changing almost daily!

    Netbook Comparison Chart

I would also recommend that you keep an eye on www.i4u.com because they seem to find many little deals and offers all over the place.

But Daffney, most proper computers run Windows. You can always try Linux or Android on them if you get bored.

It's only your Macs where you can't do jack shit without Stevie boy giving you permission.

    Really?

(looks at his Mac running Windows XP, Windows 7, Linux, and Mac OS X, side-by-side.)

    Must have missed that.

Yours can run all that as well, and simultaneously? Cool. How?

    (crickets chirping)

You do seem to be running into these foot-in-mouth situations a lot as well, as Dug already pointed out, and it bears repeating:

I've known a few people like that.
Sorry Harry, Daffney really does know his stuff, you would like to, but you're not there yet.
Your DEPTH of knowledge is too shallow.
No one needs to assassinate your credibility.... you do plenty of that by yourself already. Thanks.

Affirmation is a wonderful thing for the insecure. Do you call him every time you need help?

You seem to require a lot of that from mc2.

Dug, one single time, posted not so much a supporting argument, but really more of a dress down of you -- mc2 has to continuously rush to your defense, time and time again, to the point where it makes me wonder if he's on your speed dial.

    You keep making two mistakes:

    - you disregard the facts, repeatedly.
    - you talk too much.

    (free advice - take it!)

Whatever Daffy, if you need help from other people, that's fine.

I think mc2 laughs at you for the same reasons everyone else does, he doesn't need any prompting from me.

On with the laptop recommendations thread. You can sit this one out, Daffy, you have nothing to offer but your overpriced macbooks.

as for the laptops - just depends what the OT is looking for. Dependability, reliability, and an operating system that works without virus', or just some cheap netbook.
