Slim tvs are the craze here at the moment although the experts say you better wait and get a big old fashioned tv instead which are sold for peanuts.
If you have to buy any of the above, the best seem to be projection tv.
slimfit is still to heavy. LCD is light and the quality is great. Now is the time. Later the models could be cheaper, but they will start removing key features to mass produce the units.
The right price is a major brand name LCD 42'' min for no more than 49,000
prices have dropped by 30% in less than 6 months
Does watching telly on a giant tv really improve your viewing pleasure?
No one has convinced me that a gigantic tv screen is really worth shelling out for.
I suspect it's a luxury for the man who has it all.
A larger screen will always be poorer quality because the broadcast quality isn't good enough. It's like zooming into a picture on a computer and seeing all the little squares (I'm trying to keep it simple for CMN).
If they ever start broadcasting HDTV it will make a difference.
Thanks marmite.(I'm trying to keep it simple for CMN)
I reckon it would be great for playing winning eleven or john Maddens football though.
well 42'' is not giant, but yes on the 70'' it doesn't make much sense, unless you have SAT TV in high definition like they have in the US.Originally Posted by ChiangMai noon
Watching Thai Operas on a 42'' doesn't make much sense either, but it's great for watching DVD
Watching TV sucks anyway. I don't have UBC now and for some strange reason I don't miss it !!!
and will most likely drop another 20% before end of this year..Originally Posted by Butterfly
It's hard for the non-technical customer to choose a good screen today.
Things like viewing angle, resolution, brightness, and pixel delay vary much between the models.
The cheaper models has some drawbacks there or are of last years technology..
^ yep, I would expect another 20% drop, but after it would be less linear, maybe another few years for another 30% drop
I think at those prices demand is going to pickup and that's when the good deals are. When it becomes something generic, they will all be the same at the same price like a regular TV. We are not there yet. The best VCR you could buy was when the product was mature, just before the market got flooded by the Chinese no name brands.
I have a large "TV" room, current TV is 32" - it's like looking at a Stamp!Originally Posted by ChiangMai noon
Having read a bit about it and watched Click on the Beeb yesterday, it will be years before we are watching HDTV, in the meantime - taking failing eyesight into consideration etc - there will be no difference!
I think it's far more economical just to move yourself nearer the tv.
Same effect, 49,000 baht cheaper.
See Marmite, I'm not so dull.

there is also 3D TV coming soon. Even though the pics is all blury. I think it's going to be a huge market for Porn addicts !!!

I was looking at it yesterday 19,970 baht. Maybe shop soiled thoughNo way mate, the lowest is 49,000 for a smaller one. Read the fine print.

Then forget 42", take 32" instead! < If you still fancy LCD TV. If you want to change to Plasma TV then you can get PS42D5S 62,000 Baht.

A couple of my mates have got projector TVs. OK at night but shite in the day time.
