more specs , like megapixels and size of mem cards and your location for possible p/u
4 megapixel.
Not a bad camera but a bit outdated, brand new prolly means never used.
Cause the camera was brand new in summer 2004..
Haha....heard those 4 Mp cameras are bouncing back now, hell i want to get a 2Mp!
Its like back in the days when i got my first digi cam, it was 1.2 Mp and big as a brick.
Seller said; listen, you will never ever need another digital camera, this one will fit all your needs, all over 1Mp is real luxury, bla bla...
People were really impressed with it, for a while haha.
I have a 4mp and an 8mp samsung, the 4mp takes sharper and better colored pictures, the lenses is what counts
For those to lazy to google:

^ so do you reckon it's any good FF?
I stil own an s5600 and would buy one of the fuji newer offerings in a minute. They are very good cameras. They take excellent photos. THe newer cameras have a wider ISO range and more megapixels I think the 5700 goes for around 8 - 8.5 new though. if the guy would come down a bit it would be a good deal. 4MP is fine for shootin for the web I think. The optics are great. Many of my earlier pictorial threads were shot with the fuji 5600. and some of the my newer ones will have the odd shot from that cam in 'em. I usually take both cams when I go on the hunt.
Interesting. I've got a little Pentax Optio WPi, 6 meg, it's only a snap shot type. The photos can be good but I was thinking of upgrading. Maybe this would be worth a go.
I would negotiate. I prefer to use over the counter Panasonic Oxyride Batteries I get good life from them and they are usually available at 7-11 and the like. I have a charger I never use. I wouldn't rate the charger, and kit as allthat much a bonus. If the batteries are rated anything less than 2800 milli-amp hour they aren't worth squat IMO. My camera has a 512 and 1 GB cards, I use it at JPEG fine setting and can fill the cards and dump them to the computer a couple of times before I need new batteries using the OxyRides.
Again, as Lom said, it is old technology, the price quoted is high and going from 6 MP to 4 is harldy an upgrade. But if you can get a better price it could be in introduction to some slr-like functions and settings. If you use this camera and want to continue as some sort of hobby you will want to upgrade again, soon. I am not sure about the 5500 but my 5600 had a sort of manual focus that requires a bit of finger acrobatics to get to work so I never used it.
The only thing "Wrong" with the camera is it's limited sensor size and pixel count. It does have features like manual exposure, aperture priority, shutter priority several whitebalance modes I'm not sure, but I don;t believe it has the pre-programmed modes the later models have.
You can read more about it here: http://http://www.dpreview.com/news/0407/04072805fujifinepixs5500z.asp
I almost sold my 5600 for 5K but decided to keep it. I do like Fuji's digital cameras. Before you buy it check the pricing of s5700 or s9500 new and then go from there. Prices for these cameras has come down sharply in the past year.
If JJ's not interested, I might be. He gets first refusal. From what FF says it might be ideal for doggy shots for website. I'm not too bothered about the 'perfect' shot, as long as it's decent.
But would your friend bring the price down a smidgen? In light of FF's reviews?
Just been in Tesco and seen a similar looking Fuji s5800 for 6,900bt.

Bottom right of the page.
I reckon 5000 is a fair price, after a fair bit of research.
I don't want it.
Go for your life.
sorry guys, he's already flogged it, so sorry for wasting your time, he got the asking price
I wish I hadnt seen this thread. One of the voices in my head has convinced me I need a new camera. For SLR's I always had Canon's and Im a bit wary of buying anything else just out of habit. Ive got about 12k to splash on something not point and shoot. Any ideas or recommendations?

^The Fuji line is good. Check out the s9500 it's in your price range maybe 12 - 14k in stores, I believe. not point and shoot and not smaller or more convenient than a slr.

Cheers FF, I'll see if any stores here have one to play with tomorrow. I just need more control than a point and shoot.
Fuji make great cameras My P/S car camera is a Fuji S7000 and its great, done a lot of work and never given an ounce of trouble over the last 5 years - can't compare with my Cannon 30D with its variety of lenses for speciality work but for an all round good camera with good results , light and handy , Fuji 's are reliable with good quality lens' .
I could parrot some review but have no experience with the camera personally. My opinion of it would be worthless, IMO.Originally Posted by sunsetter

Im in the market for a new camera. As Im off to laos for my visa run next week I was wondering if anyone knew if they have camera for sale at the duty free. If so any models and rough prices would be appreciated.
