Made a big mistake & need help

    Good morning,
Just got back from another country and made a huge mistake by not having a Re-Entry permit. My (still 8 months to go) Retirement Visa was cancelled and I now have a Tourist only. They will give me a new Visa if I proof 800.000 which I not have right now. My money is blocked until New Year. Is there a good soul who can help? I need 500.000 for 2/3 days only as, in this case, there is no need to have it for 3 months in advance.
Of course I can give some guarantee by a deed and I am ready to pay a fair fee.
    Thanks so much.

This should be an interesting thread.

You can survive here for the remainder of this year on back-to-back tourist visas, which I expect is the option you are going to be left with.

Where did you get your Tourist visa from?
They don't issue them at immigration when you enter Thailand.

I don't think it was cancelled, it's your extension of stay that has been reset if I am not mistaken, or did the VISA also expired ?

    Thanks Butterfly,
I got the Retirement for years already. At Suvarnabhimi they gave me a 28 days stay and maybe this is not a really visa coz I am from a exempt country. What is the Non-B at 400.000? Immigration told me only a marriage visa is at 400.000 and that money have to be in the bank 2 months in advance. Other option is to go to Vientianne 2 times.
I go to the bank now and see if I can get a short loan for a few days based on my title deeds.

Fair question Thetyim. Why would he apply for a Tourist Visa and not a double entry one? He must think TD members are all from Nigeria.

Not enough info so can only guess that he was not on a retirement visa but on an extension. Also sounds like he has no visa now and is here on visa exempt 30 day stamp.

Looks like he will have to visit a thai embassy/consulate and get a visa to keep him going.

    Thanks Thetyim,
For years I got the retirement with 800.000 in the bank and a multiple entry. This year however I did not take a multiple as I had no intention to travel outbound more then 3 times. I completely forgot the Re-Entry aswe were very busy prior to departure. My stamps saying Non Re. Now I got a stamp until June 23rd but cannot read it clearly. I guess it is not a visa but a visa exempt stamp.
Every body points to Vientianne as the best option and marry before so need 400K only. I don't know about the Non-B that Butterfly is referring to (#17). If it is 400k only, what kind of visa is that and have the 400k in the bank for 3 months?
    Thanks.

I did the same thing once. I went to the Thai Embassy in Tokyo and got a tourist visa for two months, came back and re-applied for the Non-O. They were very nice about it at the Chiang Mai immigration.

You could go to Vientiane twice before the end of the year for a tourist visa and re-apply when you get your money.

If you are married to a thai, have 400k in the bank and can get your arse down to immigration with 21 days or more left on your permission to stay then immigration can change you to a Non Imm O status.

Yes and even from a Visa Exempt stamp

"When changing categories in the Kingdom, the general rule is that the applicant for change of status must have at least 21 days of validity left on their current Thai immigration stamp. Changing status from one category to another can be more difficult depending upon the original category. Generally, the Royal Thai Immigration Police do not prefer to change an applicant’s status from visa exemption to a proper category. In these situations, they prefer that the applicant depart the country, obtain a proper visa, and return for a Thai visa extension at a later date. That being said, conversion from an exemption to a visa category can be achieved, but conversion is done at the discretion of the Royal Thai immigration officer."

A visit to immigration with a little cash in hand for the officer would be good since this is the case.

Nobody told me that. They just said leave, get tourist visa, and come back to reapply.
