    Robbed!!

Now I know there is fuck all I can do but just venting some rage!!!

Did 4 nights in Pai and then did one night in Chaing Mai before getting the bus to Chaing Rai yesterday.

Checked my money today and there was 5000baht and 50 US dollars missing!!! Fair play to the clever c unts as there was more money than that in there but they just took enough not to make it look suspicious if I glanced at the money.

Money was locked in the top half of my backpack and they have obviously picked or opened the lock as there is no other damage to the bag at that is the only way in.

Thing is although i'm almost certain it was taken in the place we stayed in Chaing Mai I can't be sure because it could have been taken last night here in Chaing Rai.

My fault for leaving my money in the room albeit in a locked bag!!

Meant to be having a few days off the beer but can feel a heavy one coming on tonight now!!!

    Thieving pricks.

Most zipper locks can be opened with with a ball point pen, with practice they can then slide the lock and and sliders back over the opened teeth to reseal. Airport baggage handlers trick. Had a customs officer show me how its done once in jakarta airport. He thought it was a good trick to show off. There are vids online now that show it in detail, so not much safety in zip locks anymore

You need a good quality high fashion item called a bumbag, the locals will admire you as you stroll down the street with your belongings securely in your bumbag.

Agree with Rascal. Why travel with all that cash ? Open a Thai bank account , put your money there and take out small amounts with ATM.

Watched that vid on the bag zipper but liked the other one of the beer bottle being opened with a piece of paper better.

Old one- there is sometimes a thief stowed in there too, ready n waiting.
That used to be a major scam on the southern bus routes up from Malaysia & Phuket.
You don't really know where it happened, neither do we.

TescoLotus sell an alarm, small, neat and cheap. Called it a rape alarm in the uk,basically drop it into a bag,tie the end bit to anything (extend the existing line with cotton thread etc} works well, can oil the pin to make it super sensitive

You know, I've had 3-5000 baht missing pretty often. Usually after travelling or going to the bars. Dang robbers! I bet you just spent it and forgot about it. A thief would take it all.... There is no glory in leaving money behind.
