Are you or eve you ever been professional?
There's a book worth of material here..

^ just updated the Malaysia page, I think I'm finished w/ that one for the most part.
nah, I'm not, nor never been a pro-shooter. Take a look around flickr & you'll see what real professional pictures look like:
Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing
But I feel over the past year my ability has improved a lot, both technically & composition wise. In the near future my pictures will be of a much higher caliber than they are now.
Thanks for the kind words I really appreciate that.

I'm back to messing aroung w/ HDR* images again. The Photoshop plug-in was pretty bad, so tonight I got a hold of Photomatrix:
HDR photo software & plugin - Tone Mapping, Exposure Fusion & HDR Imaging for photography
here are a couple I think look OK:
as you notice there's a halo around the midtones & shadows, I need to get rid of that. I notice that w/ a lot of HDR images I've seen.
I'm just playing around right now, I need to figure out what I'm doing, but I think it's pretty cool for just clicking around & not knowing what I'm clicking (for the most part).

Did you physically take the 3 base photos for these or did you use the software to make them for you?
I've been using this a lot lately, got some to post, but on holiday at the moment.
I've been taking photos by the 3's on this trip.
They don't look as good when taken from the same photo, get a lot of noise in some of them.
I think they look great, theae are two really good examples.
these were 3 seperate shots. Since I've been shooting w/ the 450d, I shoot in 3s roughly 20% of the time when I see a nice landscape, even though I didn't have good HDR software.
I really like this one:
this breaks the theme of the thread, because it's Malaysia, but it's on topic. The highlights around the trees are too intense, I think it looks kind of cool though.
I must dust the tripod off and have a go at these HDR shots.
^ I never use a tripod, I just put the camera on continuous shoot mode, hold my breath & FIRE!
Stunning.
What ISO you shooting to achieve that without a tripod?
I thought you're supposed to dick about with the exposure between shots?Originally Posted by bustak
preset auto exposure bracketing.
3 shots with preset +/- exposures.
I underexpose all shots by 2/3 of a stop in Thailand. I then set one stop above and below that. So you get -1+2/3 and +1/3 to go with it.
when I do the 3 images I shoot in Program mode, w/ the AEB set to over & underexpose by 2:
I usually have the ISO set to 400.
Bugger - I'll have to get my camera manual out.

when I converted this one to B&W it picked up on the grain, giving it an ominous feel:
I like this one a lot, it doesn't scream HDR like the previous 3.
thanks to Bobcock:

I made a couple of HDRs out of a single RAW image:
not too bad.

I definately like the second one, did you have many problems with noise?
^ no grain:
but the lens was dirty & there's purple fringing around the tree.
here's a few LDR's (Low Dynamic Range) images:
These were taken the night before Visakha Puja near Doi Suthep:
I love how everyone knew I was taking this cat's picture, except for the guy:
i like the HRD pics, they are somehow similar to what our eyes see when looking at the scene, right? very natural looking and nice photos as usual bustak, well done!
a few from today, I'll post more later.
Bobcock Does Bustak.
it's hardly debbie Does Dallas, but I was out on Saturday and a couple of shots caught my eyes that made me think of bustak.
The first is at Rama 9 MRT station, for some reason everytime someone came up the escalator he looked away from me. I wanted him looking into the picture.
The second is from a moving taxi, the cat just caught my eye.
^ nice shots!
the dog one is superb!
