    remembering old time CM expats

Do any of these names ring a bell ?

Max (Black Cat,and Moon Garden) apparently recently r.i.p

Andy "Mao" the old Blue Sky days! and his drinking mate Ronnie...also gone.

    "Skipper"

"Abe" an eccentric Englishman ,very thin, white hair, little money, and yet a very intelligent man.

Rudi...old special boyfriend of the late "Nuu" owner of the Blue Sky.

"Blue"...died test flying an ultra light for someone in Thailand.

Martin West ....co owner with his bro David of the old Domino Bar.

    Tony

And damn it I've forgotten the names the 2 owners(before) of Spotlight a German and an Englishman...what a combo !!!lol

Those were the days when the CM night scene went until the wee hours ..Blue Sky bar was 24/7and in 1992 Spotlight sported girls dancing in their regular underwear....before thong undies were in style !!!...lol the place was jammed...as was the old Bar Beer center across the road( where the mediocre(at best) Muay Thai place is now)
    Cheers All

Never meet either but heard about them. I knew the owner of 'True Blue' which took over from Domino Bar. That's gone now too, not sure what (if anything) is there today - now that I think about it I rarely go to that part of town any more.

That's him, aka Blinky Bill on the kids' forum. I think it was Anzac Day this year while working. Good bloke. His mate, Dunny, has also gone.

Dunny's Alzheimer's got to the point where he was returned to live in a hospice in NZ. He died following complications from a medical treatment he received there. A genuinely tough guy with a heart of gold, and still so young.

Jeez that is sad. Couldn't agree more with your assessment of Dunny either, great guy.

He actually came to my wedding. I'd invited him off-hand - not because I didn't want him to come but because I didn't think he'd want to. So he did turn up... In his work boots. Typical Dunny style!

Didn't know Ian well personally.....so sorry to hear about his demise.
As well..the fate of his mate Dunny is so sad...my Dad suffered from Alzheimer's for 6 years before he finally passed away.

On a lighter note...anyone know Rudi ? German ex pat who used to own the Sax Pub...very good jazz musician . His Dad used to run "The Level"(hot disco, nightclub in the 90's) out past" Kad Suan Kaew".
Nice guy....apparently is still playing music in CM?

Very sad as another Brit was killed recently in Pattaya flying a micro-light and he was the instructor at the local air field.

I believe his name was Maurice? (owner of True Blue )
There is a more upscale place there now...however it never looked very busy...apparently has landlord problems as well

Yep, that's the one. It was him and a Scottish guy named John in partnership until Maurice moved back to Aus and the latter took over full ownership.
