    Chiang Mai Train Station

    I found this interesting.

Surprised how quiet (devoid of people) the station was.

Was forced to have sex in a car just next to that train station at around 3pm one day.

I kinda like that area of CM, but then I like most of CM.

Was forced to take an overnight train up there not long ago when I got a last minute call to go up there and all the planes were full. Bottle of wine into a 1 liter bottle of Yen Yen, private cabin and tablet full of music DVD's. Worse ways to travel in fairness.

    Kind of.

Luckily there were no stains or scents left, so the missus didn't find out.

    Anyway.

I always loved CM, first went there in 2001 with a CM GF I was banging in Sydney.

Plan to retire there in 8 years or so.

It's my Thai Partners Father's dream to retire there, in CM.

I like the place, but usually only visit around the Yi-Ping Festival time.

I've read all the seasonal 'smoke' reports ... does it really get that bad?

    Sadly yes
Until they stop the burning, of course in corrupt karmic sewer where loval enforcement is fear loss of face permanent respiratory damage is a reason to avoid in spring c rai and Mae Hong Song border zones no better

The solution is there, if martial law cannot enforce then it never will.
Jail land confiscation may be required to re-educate slow leaners

Yep, seems to get worse every year. Along with the new builds, the traffic, the Chinese etc....

^ and ^^ ... does the burning off come from within Thailand or across the border, over which the Kingdom has little control ... or both?

Which, with a little bit of nothing else to do, using those photos seems to be exactly here on google maps.

    Google Maps rocks.

About 10 years ago I rode all around the northern edges hugging as close to the borders as possible. Even down as far as Nakhon Sawan my eyes were stinging from the smoky haze.
