A villager in Banluang, Jom Thong has drawn attention after she shared an image of a giant mushroom she found in a bamboo forest near her home.

The picture online went viral after people were suprised by the size and the happy laugh of the woman holding it.

The couple who found it, known only as Thorn and Sutin, added that the mushroom was a Tricholoma crussum, locally known as a Hed Jan. Its recognised by it’s large size, white colour and cup-shaped cap. The mushroom is very popular in central, northern and northeastern Thai cuisine and is often found growing on rotting wood and clay during the rainy season.
