    hows this for a day!

Today stated normally and ended somewhat differently i assure you
I paid my rent today as normal,on time for the last 31 months, I am informed by my landlady that she was increasing my rent as she doesn't like my live in girlfriend as she thinks she is not paying the correct payment for washing machine use
I explained that our usage was down this month thanks to our 12 day trip away!
That seemed on fall on deaf ears.
So being the stubborn prick i am i give a months notice, right there and then
Well when my girl found out, what had been said, a side of her i have never seen came out and it was on!!!!!! 2 Thais girls screaming at each other like I've never seen
Next The landlady jumps on her scooter and rides off, my girl comes back in all shaking and upset, the next thing ive got the boys in brown at the door and its off again with the 2 Thai girls, the copper is just smiling at me, an innocent bystander
so the next thing he decides that will all have to go to the Police station to sort this out
We refuse as i's such a trivial matter to involve police, the Thai police man said he would ring the Tourist Police and let them sort it, why i said, my girl is not a tourist and the landlady is Thai so why do we need them? Well, this is not good enough for the Landlady she goes to a bigger police station and lodges a complaint, who we received a call from asking us to come and sort this out. Off we go, the new police man assigned the case, smiled his charming Thai smile and told us to sit down
Next we are old that she wants us both out within 15 days, after a bit more shouting at each other, that got changed to, i can stay the month out but my girlfriend has to go within 24 hours
They go away and write it all down and then ask everyone to sign it, i refused as it was written in Thai, i new what is was but i didn't know what it said so i refused to sign, ok mr policeman says, mai pen rai

So the reason this is in the real estate forum is I need a new house asap, if anyone knows of something , Chiang mai east area preffed, please let me know
    Thanks

That's harsh. Might be time to suck it up and bring the landlady a tin of biscuits or something and ask her to let the GF stay a bit longer and ask the GF to stay away from the landlady while you are house-hunting.

Landlady will probably grudgingly agree because the hassle of filing a civil court case to enforce the police report won't be worth it and anyway you'll be long gone by the time the court agrees to even hear the case.

Perfect example of why not to rent (unless from Dr. A). I had my days of renting and still rent an executive townhouse in the States. Whenever I could, I purchased a house that did not have a homeowners association, fees or neighborhood watch group. It seems whenever others are involved with where you live, shit happens. Anything from rent being increased to not being allowed to work on your own vehicle.

Also, a reason why I picked the countryside to build a house. Less hassles, fewer regulations and much easier to use your property the way you want. As long as you don't upset the natives, life is pretty easy with a very low BS factor.

It just seems like cities breed chaos and too many people telling you what you can and can't do. If you do have to rent, find something out in the country away from all the mafioso landlords.

Handy tip on why you should never piss off cabin crew. The eyedrops in their first aid kits make a handy laxative when added to coffee, etc.

Really rotten day...worst part is you get the brunt of it! Good luck on the search for new digs.

BTW, G/F's not bi-polar is she?

No, I learned it through "socialising" with numerous cabin crew for a certain Gulf carrier.....

Robbo, sorry to hear that, mate - just goes to remind us how unstable things are (and that all Thais, ok not all just all the Thais I've met, are mad...).
cheers mate, it was unreal to be on the inside off 1 Thai accusing another of stealing (all of 40 baht by the way) my girl is not Bi-polar she just saw red and said a bit too much in front of the police and it went down hill from there

All good now, have moved away from the crazy land lady, but still looking for a house

doesn't sound like a good idea as they would have to clean up mid-flight!

By Harry no doubt after getting laxatized (yeah, it's a word!) after the pilot caught him knobbing the flight engineer.

Robbo - I have a large washing machine for rent - but I am not sure it could sleep 2 comfortably.

Anyway pm me if interested - it would probably compare favorably to Andy's gaff

Would you try a small "bribe," to the Land lady to remain domiciled in situ? why move, just keep the G/F on a shorter leash.
