    Smile Guesthouse

Coming into Chiangmai next Monday and will stay for two nights. Any good decent Guesthouse to recommend... Somewhere within old city would be ideal. Budget not kore than usd25 or 750B.

walk-in is normal for guesthouses, normal price

just get yourself to one of the guesthouse areas in the old city and walk around

shouldn't be full at this time of year, Eric

Rendezvous is quite nice and very well located in the old city. The owner is a CX native.

Used to stay at Gap's Guest House, but now its going downhill, but the price in in you're range. He serves a nightly vegetarian buffet which is expansive as well low budget. Excellent fare if you're looking for volume and good. Gap also does treks and raft trips. Just inside the North Gate 1 block and a half ally way on the left next to the Wat. Good Garden as well. Look it up in Lonely Planet. Many more in the alleys up and down so take a look and enjoy the sights.

The only down side of that place is that the walls are paper thin.

I don't either, but I didn't check it out first as I assumed it was like I remembered from several years prior. I won't stay there again, but I will go for the buffet when in town. that to may go downhill as well. Gaps getting old and his Dragon Lady wife is certainly all Dragon Lady.

Perhaps the bloke is having such a good time he's forgotten that he's supposed to log back on and offer heartfelt thanks.

In which case take pride in the success of your advice.

This one is great value, good location and the best internet connection in anywhere I've stayed in Thailand.

    Smith Residence

490 - 800 per night depending on what you want. The cheapest rooms are fine. I get them every time I journey in from Lamphun to get on the piss.

    Hi

Well I found it a useful thread so I`ll say Thanks even though I didn`t ask the question.

Looked on line at the places in the links, seem fine for the money.

The GF reminded me that she has never been to Chiang Mai, wants to go and I had mentioned taking her before.

I went once but that was 12 years ago, from what little I remember I enjoyed it, stayed at a hotel about opposite the night market.

Thinking first week of November and looking at Air Asia ( from BKK) some return flights at about 2100 baht each, that seems OK as well.

Does anyone know if this place is still open, from a 5 yr. old thread ?

    http://teakdoor.com/thailands-travel...chiangmai.html (Tweechol Gardens Chiangmai)

    Thanks.
